07 197 on 68k!

Looking at one on the auto trader.
2007, red, 1 owner, fsh (im assuming the cambelt has been done) and its up for 6990. Is this still too much?
I dont usualy worry about milage but this is very high! lol

I bet it isn't bad on fuel. Thing is, depending on what you use it for and how many miles you put on it, would you get a good amount if you sold it on?

It's cheap. And as long as it's got FSH I don't think there's cause to be worried. Just test it properly and look it over for the usual 197 faults and it could be all good.

The only way you'd rack up 68k in 3years is motorway journeys.

Id worry about how the miles have been done rather than the amount of miles itself. Id rather have a car thats done 50k motorway than 10k of short start/stop journeys to the local shops and back.

Yeah its gotta be mway miles.
Ill prob chuck another 10-12k on it over the next year then sell it on.
That will make it about 80k. lol If i was only doing 5k a year id be all over it tbh.
Might go and see it on the weekend. 07> have better/taller gearing iirc

Mines a 57 plate and its got the closer ratio box in it. Think mine was right on the change over point.

I think if you could get it for £6500, 1 year later, it can't be worth less than £6k surely? I bet the car will drive lovely if it has FSH and it's only been taken up and down the motorway. Get it bought!

Why assume the belts done? It's on under 72k and is less than 5 years old

No such thing, all that was changed was the ratios in 5th and 6 for longer gearing to help the car cruise at slightly lower revs for better fuel consumption.

It will have required it's aux belt doing at 36k. If you're lucky they'll have done that and possibly the cam belt too - but that is the same as 172/182 reqd at 72k miles - it's not far off that, but obviously it doesn't technically need it yet. You won't know till you've checked its service history out.

ah yeah course its 72k for timing belts. for some reason i thought it was 60K. In that case i doubt its done.
I guess 500 quid should cover a cambelt service on a 197?
Ive had my eye on it for a while now (its been on the trader for about a month) and it was priced at 7.5k at the start.

Being a dealer, I'd be very curious as to why it's priced at £7k. And what fool would be selling it for £6k to the dealer? It looks very tidy, I'd be wanting a full check over the car if you were to purchase. The price almost looks too good to be true!
