172 Cambelt change-waterpump?

  172 Cup
Do people tend to change the water pump on a 172 when doing the cambelt/aux belt job?
Got my belts coming up and wondered if its worth doing?
How much are genuine pumps?

As Budgie said it's up to you!

I would recommend it but that is because mine failed on me, it is rare for them to go though. I would say 5l coolant (type -d), waterpump and labour would come in around £90ish on top of the belt price etc.

As said depends.

I had mine done on my Cup but only due to it being fucked. If your using a specialist its only something like a extra £60.

For the sake of 35 quid if you're doing the rest anyway, yes. The genuine pumps are pretty tough it's normally the seals that go

pump is £70 not £35, plus an extra hours labour, plus coolant.

I think i've changed 8 ever, 3 of them through failures, and that's having done over 500 cambelt changes

I'd also recommend it. That's because mine went this year and I decided to get a new timing belt too... it ended up being rather expensive!

I'm getting my cambelt done soon and I'll get the waterbelt done too as it's not that much extra and easier for them to do it all at the same time.
