Apaprently he's been to view a 172 Cup with full digital climate control (as opposed to the AC they had as an option towards the end)

I haven't been to see any cups! :)

I just want a pic as it's bugging the hell out of me :) I remember looking at buying a cup with cc at the time they were new and remember it being called climate control on the spec sheet, hence why I thought it was climate rather than air con.

Was a 700 odd quid option on later models, but I don't know if it's climate or air con, hence the question :)

This car you viewed wasn't in brighton was it?

I haven't viewed any cars!! Some guy on another forum did apparently and it sparked the debate as to whether the option was air con or climate.

  soon: 172 Cup
yes fella.

I am in the market for a cup and a guy contacted me through here who had a cup on a 53 plate with CC (which as people have said, was a £550 option later models!)

Whats the point if you want a 172 cup? isnt the point of it not to have climate and stuff?

I know they also made a limited run of silver cups also that had the option of climate etc but ive never seen one and think it looks no where near as good in silver.

But thats cus i love blue lol

Wash your mouth out with soap! LOL.

Climate was £795 btw and full list price for my Silver one with CC was £13800.

  172 Cup
It's a nice thing to have in a Cup. For me you get the best of both worlds. I didn't give a s**t about the 'toys' but CC is essential for me now.

Plus it'll add value to the car and it seems that Cups with CC are quite rare.. which is also good.

Did somebody get owned on the "other" forum ;)

Sadly after a comment like

"You're right ofcourse. I've only owned a 2003 Cup and 2004 Silver Cup with optional AC, moderate the largest Clio forum, attended Renault press launches and driven all Renaultsport cars but I'm sure you know better than me."

he kind of owned himself, nothing else needed :) All in good taste though, just glad to be put out of my misery.

cups with aircon defeat the object of the car.....ie weight saving!!!!

You're still saving weight though, just not as much, and if having climate is important to you then I don't see a problem personally. Just take other stuff you don't want out to make up for it :)

Air con is quite a heavy thing though is it not ?

And in relation to the other forum I will also hold my hands up, learned something new there.

It's not excactly light, but of the 89kilos shaved off for the cup how much of that is air con?

  VaVa
I'd say about 20kg for the whole lot, which is about the single biggest piece of weight loss from the car.... then you've got the load on the engine, and the extra 1's and 0's in the ECU to control it too. :clown:

It does defeat the object a little, but is Ok for people who aren't quite hardcore enough to own a Cup, but like to think they are. ;)

I've got a Silver 172 with the associated Cup bits and I have to say that everytime I see a blue Cup I wish my car was available in that colour. In fact despite the spec being at the top of my list, I nearly bought a Cup purely for the colour!!

15kg maybe including compressor and associated pipework. Probably miles out to be honest.

I dunno probably not too bad, am I right in thinking the air con on these uses another little rad, plus pipes, compressor, plus the extra buttons on the dash? :)
