i have a serious leak from inside the gearbox. looks to be coming from behind the thrust sleeve guide. apparently from the online manuals this has a double lip seal that sits behind the flange.

the manual indicates that special tools are required to replace this but it can be done without splitting the box ( unlike other clio boxes ).

has anyone ever replaced this seal ?

will it need to go into a specialist box shop ?

As I wrote to you in the PM.

JC5-089 (Phase one) = Easy can be changed without splitting the box. No special tools needed. Well you can make your own from a thick tube using a lathe. But thats if you wanna be serious.

JC5-130 (All phase 3 and phase 2 NON-CUP) = Will need you to split the box as the seal and bearing are one unit. Press the old bearing out and mount a new one. You will need special tools to split the box and special tools to press the bering out. You can find some of the special tool numbers in my Swedish forum thread (999XXXXX numbers are Volvo numbers) as well as pictures of my home made tools for pressing the bearing out.
