172 Servicing

  RenaultSport clio 172 CUP
My CUPS on A 52 plate with 17,000.00 and has had one service which was carried out in May last year.

I know it should really have had two services according to the age which did concern me a bit before I bought the car just over a month ago.

I decided to buy it because apart from slightly scuffed wheels it's mint.

What service should i have next,24k servicing or one accoriding to the cars age???

I'm in the same boat mate...got a 52 plate 172 with only 16000 on the clock.

Am going to get it serviced at 4yrs anyway as certain things like the coolant and brake fluid need doing regardless of mileage.

I think Renault have changed the recommended service intervals a few times. The service book for my car 03 172 says 12k/1yr. I think they made it longer for the 182, but I've got a brand new Renault brochure this week and it says in it "all renaultsport models 12k/1yr service intervals". This only refers to megane as the 182 isn't in the brochure any more, but...

For some bizarre reason I've got into the habit of every 6mths or 6,000 miles getting my car serviced. Probably goes back to the day of owning a Mini when a weekend could be happily spent doing a service.

Bless it. :)

Cheers for that.

I was just concerned before I bought mine cos cos although the servicing is fine according the milage it should of had its first service in Jan05 according to age.

The first service was infact done In May05..

I surpose getting it serviced acccording to milage is more importmant that age?

I think there's a 1 month/1000mile tolerance on your servicing, otherwise when it comes to claiming from the warranty, Renault can say you car hasn't been serviced properly.

Pointless to start a new thread so here we go:

I have just been quoted £80 for a 4 year/24k minor service from a local garage. I had budgeted £170 so this is quite a saving. Anything I should check?
