172 vs Polo G40

only ever seen one g40, rare as fook? Was a minter I saw too. Whats the spec on them i.e. power and 0-60 etc?

iv had the pleasure of racing 2 at york, and beat them by quite a bit! they were both running mid-low 15s i think!

had a good chat with one of the owner, sound bloke and nice motor!!

Im sure they do, will weigh a few hundred kilos less than a 172 / 182 too! But the 172 or 182 will have bags more torque than a supercharged 1.3 wont it?!
 


You would be suprised how easy the G40s are to tune.

I have a few mates who run a Supercharged VW tuners and they have loads running anywhere from 170-220+

thats pretty scary for a 1.3! lol Must need a regular rebuild on those engines?

guess thats what inspired the new cooper s :sick:

I raced some guy in one of those. He whooped my ass in the valver. He was pulling away in 1st and 2nd. Thought i might get him at higher speeds with my car maybe having more torque. Did i fook 120 and he was still pulling away. (Private road) It was a black one with black alloys. Looked really hard core. Must of been tweaked up a bit i reckon.

we had 2 G40s in the late 90s...the later one was aparenty one of the very last 3 registered....man they were quick,but the torque steer was serious!!,and the absence of discs on the back was a bit worrying to say the least,the charger sounded sweet when it got up to speed without much lag....then moved onto a crx vtec,106gti and now a mk1 172

happy days...
