182 Advice

Going to look at an 04 plate 182 with 10.5k miles - is there anything in particular I need to look out for when viewing/test driving it?

To my knowledge it hasnt been serviced yet - am i right in saying the intervals are 12k or two years on the 2.0 engines?

Thanks in advance,

G

Off the top of my head it`s 18,000 or 2 years. I have only done 7300 since March 04 so the mileage part hasn`t been an issue for me. Its not 12,000 or 2 years though.

Yes the 182's serviced intervals are every 12K or 2 yrs

On the test drive i'd listen out for any strange knocking noises, and just make sure the engines sweet and the brakes are good.

^^ correct, is 12k or 2yrs.

The 18k is for nonsport models conterary to wot most reno dealerships will tell. Check the vehicle handbook.

Try simulating stop start driving and listen out for any knocking from the engine area, loose engines mounts seem to be a "feature" of 182s, fixable under warranty.

I stand corrected, it is 12,000 miles. For some reason i always assumed it was 18,000 but it`s not been an issue for me only doing about 3,500 a year !

I need to get mine out more !

check the shock absorbers for signs of oil, they're prone to bursting and it will be warrantied, I've had a few.

check that the brake lights come on as soon as u press the brake pedal, this is a common fault too and is warrantyable (new word for Monday)

Make sure there's a nice kick at 5k rpm in the rev range, note it'll redline at 6500 rpm when cold, after about 15mins it goes up to 7250rpm.

My 04 plates on 24k miles :D

oh another common one to check for is an oil leak at the rocker cover. Take the engine cover off and look for oil around the casting

Thanks for all of the advice - all good stuff which i'll look out for and give it a thorough look over then.

Priced at 9k having been heavily reduced - seems more than a fair price IMO, what'd you reckon?

Doh! Wasn't quick enough and at that price the car has sold. I have however found a Sep 04 54 plate Racing Blue with 15.5k miles and both Cup packs which is up for £10600..... what sort of price should i be looking at paying?

thanks again

definitely 12k/2yrs - some muppet wrote in my book 12k/1yr and i cacked it as mine is 14 months old i thought i'd voided my warranty - but in print it does say renaultsports 12k or 2 years - plus i asked some dorris at renault who confirmed this
