182 cat mod in southwest

  Clio 182
Can anyone recomend anywhere in the south west (devon) that can do the cat mod.

I took it to one exhaust place explained what i wanted doing. He looked at me with a blank expression and said he cant do it.

Hoping it will stop the constant blow and sagging

Pure is down in Padstow, Dan@SJM is in Glastonbury, and OP is pretty much smack bang in the middle. And then south. :p

What is the cat mod out of interest? Or are you just getting the insides smashed through for a homemade decat?

182's have a narrowing on the end of the cat. The '182 cat mod' removes that narrowing and sees it the same size as the rest of the exhaust.

I want to get rid of the olive joint as its got a constant blow, either fit a sleeve or new flange joint

Are you looking to remove the cat yourself or a garage to do it all. Also what exhaust system is it to be sleeved into as some are different sizes. I'm pretty sure the rs192 middle section inlet side is the same size ad the std cat outlet. So sledging to 2.5 inch from the cat wound need a reduced to the 192 system. I've sleeved mine 2.5 out of cat into ktec middle box then rs192 rears although doubt reducing the size would have made much difference.

Watson automotive in paignton will be able to do it not sure if they will do the fitting though that's even if their still going they did a few bits on my old Cossie exhaust few years ago.

I think they have gone bust, they used to do my work for me but dont no who to try now

Its a scorpian system but dont think its the 192 system

It mite be worth a look and see what size it is as may be the same as the cat outlet anyway. If it is the same I guess be easier to
Weld a smaller pipe to the cat as I chopped a fair bit off mine for the 2.5in pipe.

I tightened up my mates one on his 182 a month or so ago an the new clamp was quite good I'm guessing was a genuine one and I put a jubile Clio around the middle rubber aswas drooping and didn't have another this held it up real tight I drive it a bit and seemed fine I'll ask him later if it's held up.

Will a sleeved decat pipe fit inside or over the top of a scorpian cat back system. I dont think its the 192 system.

Or will it not fit at all?

I'm not sure on other scorpian systems but the one I have in the garage on the floor for the 192 if I chopped the flange off would be a 2 inch pipe going into the box so I guess you need to check what yours is first then you can order something from their . You can get reducers in eBay .
I took the sports cat off mine as kept putting the management light on plus mane no difference what so ever just made more noise.

Ive just picked up a silenced decat to try which is a sleeve fit. Hoping it will slide straight in.

If not i will get the center section fabricated to fit it and also geth the cat fitted with a sleeve so come mot time its a straight swap.

Just got find a fabricator in Torbay:confused:

There's nothing wrong with the olive joint if you use a good clamp and a good black rtv silicone.

Stay well clear or fire putty and the like as they just set brittle and crumble off as soon as the joint flexes.

When I had my 182 I used to use a tube of cheapo car plan black sealent they sell at eurocar parts for about 4 quid.

Worked perfectly fine every year for a year when I had to put my cat on for the mot.

Loctite do a black sealent but it's a lot more expensive.
Most black silicone sealent are high temp anyway
