182 to Williams might be happening

I'm hoping to do a deal soon on a Williams 2 plus some moola for mine :)

Going to try sort this week but can't wait. Driven a Williams before and loved it. Luckily I only really drive at the weekend so the Williams will be a weekend toy.

It completely standard and will be staying like that if I get it.

Will keep you posted - will miss the 182 - anyone who is in second thoughts about getting one let me put your mind and rest, if its a good one you can;t go wrong :)

3 and a half years of ownership and every single mile has been an absolute pleasure :)

Whats the spec on the williams your looking at buying? i.e mileage e.t.c, remember its gonna be a very old car so its essential it has been looked after, i know there very prone to rust and when they break its a costly fix

i'm getting all the info today hopefully. I think its up for £3200. Won't go near it if its not looked after. Will let you know. See some pics and it looks in good condition and interior is looking well.

If its been well looked after that is a big bonus, what series williams is it your after? maybe ask a few members on here who own one or have owned one, there the best to speak to on what are the pros and cons, the biggest issue really would be reliability as the car been quite old, as for pros then theres stacks :D

williams are reliable, only bad point is the rust....best drivers car in the world of hot hatches.

I disagree, they aren't that expensive to fix if you can do the stuff yourself. My Hybrid has been terrible for reliability but I cannot part with it. The fun, noise and speed cannot be had for such little money.

if you can live with the old sytle interior and the rust then why the hell not. Great looking car and old school handling. £3200 though, seems a bit steep no considering you could get a 172 cup for that?

You'll regret it IMO unless you enjoy owning rusty unreliable cars.

lol, car is only as good as its previous owners mate.
alot of good examples out there, granted the arches are prone to rusting but thats fixable no?

lol @ all the unreliable comments ......mostly from people who dont have a clue or any experience of owning/driving one of these cars.

the general service items are cheaper than the 1*2 items, the major componants are cheaper than 1*2 items

yes they do suffer from the dreaded tin worm, but as above, looked after and that wont be much of a problem.

will give more smiles per mile than the 182, is a better car to be in, the driving position and comfort of the seats is something reno took a hundred steps backwards with in the newer clios imho.

want any advice mate..... just ask.

So if the Williams is £3,200 you aren't going to end up with too much cash coming your way. Are you swapping because you want to or have to?

Do it! If someone offered me a mint Williams 1 for my Cup i'd swap it all day long. So much more fun imo and it feels so much more special when you drive it! Having owned a Mk1 16v I can say that there not unreliable at all, if looked after they'll be fine.

i'll be getting 2k to pay off the loan as i've recently got a new flat and could do with £254 in my account. Always wanted one too.

Then you're doing the right thing. Enjoy. There's a bloke round the corner from me that has a mint (best you'll see) 5GTTurbo that spends all week under covers. Would love a drive of that :D.

Good choice, the Williams is the car i miss the most out of all the cars i've owned. Felt really special to drive, just perfect. The only thing i didnt like was the original steering wheel, and the gearchange wasnt great either, but thats just down to personal choice.
