197 Buyers Guide ?

Right as some of you know im selling up my pride and joy Mk3 1.6 thats about all you know but as title kind of shows im looking at a 197 as my upgrade.

Im going to have a look at one in a dealer in perth tomoz after work test drive it etc barter on the price, what i wanna know is there anything i should look for on the test drive ie signs of a problem to come etc etc ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

make sure all the locks work, mine have been playing up a little just recently apart from that not much else tbh, hope the bartering goes well mate

full service history for the 2 services it would have had, HPI check maybe. Think its more like SS (semi-skimmed) as it has no recaros, but the standard seats hug you anyway.

Will be asking to see service book and an HPI check at the dealers tomoz, just wondering if theres any lingering faults with them that i should look out for although i havent seen much in the way of problems with them on the forums


Prefer Semi skimmed over full fat ne way tastes better :rasp:

and you'll have more airbags!!! dunno of any other problems. the 197 is definetly better built that previous ones IMO. Have a blast, see if u can go down some national speed limit roads and let it rip!!!

Yeah i know there better built already coming from a Mk3 im gonna miss my stealth bomber i think !

Dealers is right off the MWay so will be deff blasting down there and taking it through the town see how it is with stop start traffic etc !

Its the traveling down to see it thats annoying, if its local i can make a short trip and see it first hand pics dont tell the story of the car !

its fine, just like any other run of the mill car, fairly civilised really quick tip, go along the motorway, doin about 60 in 6th, then drop it down to 4th and floor it and watch it fly!!!!

god ,this is making me more impatient waiting for my 197!!!

How the f*ck?? Just renewed mine and paid £320 for my 1.6, with 4 years no claims lol Although I do have protected no claims now, with legal cover and courtesy car.

They want about 750 for a 197 atm, wait till I'm 22 though and its around the £600 mark!

God knows what class my post code is but according to a site some one posted up on here a while ago think its like the 3rd cheapest in the country
