197 cup vs 197 ff

Have you driven both? The first person that pops up and says the Cup has a crap interior probably hasn't ever sat in one. It's very similar the FF, although the steering wheel isn't as nice to hold I must admit. I'd have to have the Cup suspension though having driven both TBH.

Only real issue I have with the cup interior is the lack of adjustment on the steering wheel, just feels a bit too far away.

I would say go with the FF, suspension upgrades are easy enough to come by and having been in both it is nicer in the FF. Recaro's are a must tho imo ;)

mixed views, the ff had all the extras and i was offerd a better deal,, but theres just something about the cup! not driven them yet

I didn't want the cup packs as I plan on coilies, I want low lol. If you want to lower the car then imho cup suspension doesn't really add much to the car as you will be changing it anyway

WTF is all this standard 197 being called a ff???

It goes 197, 197 Cup, then 197 ff = with cup suspension, ie all the options which means fully loaded. Its like a 172 ff??? whats that all about? There are no options on a 172.

Its bollox lol. A 182 ff is a 182 + cup options. Ie fully loaded. Thats how it used to be.

I know what you are saying here, it is odd. A standard 197 is always referred to as full fat but that should be the 197 with cup pack at least! But I just accept it now, different models have different rules! It’s the easiest way.

197 cup v 197 ff (but not cupped)!

I have a 197 ff (cupped) and if I had to give up the kit or the suspension? I wouldn’t, I would do without for as long as it took to get the cash to get one with both, but if you really can’t do that then you have to get the ff and save up and sort the dampers and springs and try and make it better than a cup!

Barring the price difference there's absolutely no benefit in the 197cup over the 197ff with cup suspension.

If you actually price one up, the difference is about £2.5k - working on prices from the dealers on RenaultSport forums. That's quite a lot IMHO...

Yeah; my local Renault garage was willing to give me a far better deal on a Cup than they were on a ff.

What are the toys that make the ff worth £2k more?
None I'd say.

I previously had a Focus ST-3 and don't miss any of the "luxuries" and it had a fair few more than a ff Clio would have had.

If you want a fun car that drives amazingly and don't want Renault to have any more money than is necessary (it is after all better off in your bank account than theirs) the Cup is a brilliant choice!

Recaro's are a must have option though. Seriously good seats and mine (2000 miles in) are showing no sign of wear whatsoever!!!!
