2nd car insurance

Does anyone have a weekend car, if so do you have it insured with the main insurance brokers tesco, directline etc or have you gone to a specialist broker / firm.

Im tempted to buy a second car, just for a bit of fun on the weekend. Ive gone on most of the online quotation sites, but they dont allow you to get a quote for a second car. Does anyone know what sought of reductions you get on insurance for a second car, with very low yearly mileage (<1500 miles pa)

You can get some cheap insurance usually on a second car. They add it to your policy and there usually weekend fun cars so there on limited milage anyway.

My mate added a group 9 car to his Corsa SXI insurance for £200 which sounds a lot but he was paying ~£2.1k for insuracne at the time so its only 10% extra for a much more powerful car.

Second cars are usually cheap older ones so insurers are only realy worrried about the 3rd party cover on them. And sicne you usually have the ability to drive other cars 3rd party then there not much extra risk to them.

Thanks Edde, Ill try ringing up tescos and asking them (I may try it a few times on separate days as there is a huge variation between what the operators have told me in the past).

Im hoping the second car insurance will be around £300-£500 per year, as I would like it fully comp. However the car Im thinking of getting is a group 20.
