3/4 plate

  200 Ultra Red
Got myself a 3/4 plate, but when taking off my standard size plate didn't realise that the adhesive used was going to take off the laquer which left the paint surface under the plate a mess, was thinking of trying to get a body shop to sort it but decided in the mean time to use a black vinyl to cover the damaged laquer and put the 3/4 plate on top.

What you think?

This is how i want the plate but obviously without the damage where the standard one was.

Got it from fancyplates.com - just standard font -3/4 size standard plate.

Any ideas on cost to fix the paint damage though, or anyone in my area how could help restore it for me (North east region)?

Has anyone ever tried to 'smooth' the recess then mount a 3/4 plate?

I think the smaller plates look a bit silly sitting in that big recess (no offence meant guys, i had a 3/4 on my RX-7)...

See attached pic for what i'm yabbering on about.

If you're going to get the bumper recess reworrked, i'd find out how much it'd cost to get it filled too...

where i live they pull every non standard plate, even 3d or honeycomb.

i had one for over a year and on the way to work it was constantly crawling with traffic cops, never had a problem.

Have a go yourself mate. I re-painted my recess after filling the original fixing holes. Because of the recessed sides and the relatively small area that will be left showing, the finish or colour match don't need to be fantastic.

Would Look fine...If you didn't have paint acne!!!

Agree the paint acne was a pain in the arse, so decided to sand back to plastic, primer and paint. Got to apply a couple of layers of laquer tomorrow and its sorted. Should look tremendous if i do say so myself :rasp:
