36 K service 172

  clio v6

36 K service inc parts... =£150.00 + vat
cam belt inc parts =£225.00 + vat
option recommended by renault is a cam belt kit.
this includes the tensioners etc add on £80.00 to cam belt price.
all parts are genuine renault .
cheers
Alex

Thats a good price Alex, shame you are just a tad too far from me.

My cambelt is being replaced tomorrow at 34,000 miles by a renault specialist under my blackhorse used car warranty.

Have been told quite a few 172s are begining to suffer from cam related problems at average mileage

My cambelt bearing whines like a biatch... Very audiable when driving along.

prices at the top are for gen renault parts... can always price with our second string as we are a unipart car care centre... prefer renault parts tho!!

u dont need the cam belt done on the 36k
Thats what I was thinking. Would you say it will be between £200 - £300 from a Renault dealer??

bristol street renault have quoted over 300 just for cam belt.

Fook, so I might as well buy the cambelt kit at trade price before it goes in the garage then?

kit retails at 113 quid genuine... not bad cos u get tensioner and 2 idlers..

these 172s are a bit fiddly hence ren give us 5.2 hours for the job..

Righto. 5.2 x shaftage per hour =

Anything else worth getting out of the way while they are changing the cambelt?

alternator belt mate... dont let them charge any extra labour as they got to take it off any way...

hope that is of some help mate..

  Weeman sucks ****

NO CAMBELT CHANGE AT 36K, look in the manual?!?!

Its the aux belt and doesnt cost over 200 notes, just over 100 IIRC when mine was done at 36k. The garage might want to change your spark plugs to so make sure you check that one aswell, thats done on the 72k I think?

Oh and when I had a new alternator tensioner bolt put in under warranty, it was a bumper off job, just for the record unless they were telling me porky pies.

Ill say it again, NO CAMBELT CHANGE! Only auxilary (sp) belt change. My 36k service was about 280-300 but would have to dig out the old invoice to be sure.

I think the aux belt is the alternator belt. It;s only supposed to be checked and not a part of the actual service but worth changing as it could go another time.

I know that the cambelt isnt changed in a regular 36k, its because my 172 will be 5 years old in September so I might as well get it done the now.

Alex,

Cheers for the email, I will be getting you to do the work on it :)

My mate at work lives in Exmouth and knew the garage, said one of his mates used to work there as well.

As for free collection and delivery, would that extend to my office which is just near the Exeter services? :)

(Work for South West Water)

Have mailed you back.
