98mph....

  Liquid yellow R26 F1

Got lasered by the police on the A303 last week on the way to Cornwall.. The reading was 98 mph..:(.(70 limit, Dual carriageway). Pretty stupid of me really.. a road i dont know, etc.. Was in holiday mode, so must have left my brian at home.. Muppet..

The copper that pulled me recons ill get 5/6 points and a fine.. He was waiting up a slipraod with his laser gun, so didnt even see him until he appeared behind me.. Not really playing the game if you ask me.. but sh*t happens..

Anyone else been done at that speed..? what was the result..

  Anything from the fleet

my dad decided to race the unmarked type-r they have on that same road except it was a single carriageway so 60mph.. he was doing 84, and got 4 points and £300 fine and a trip to court. he needs his car for his job and pleaded his case, otherwise it would have been more points but less of a fine. good luck!

As Illusion said 100mph is an instant ban - unless you have exceptional circumstances which you would have to make in your appeal to the judge etc - even then you can get banned minimum of 28 days BUT...

Back to the facts - 98 in a 70 will give you 3pts and £60 - Id bet a pint on it.

Where was it on the A303?

They had a blitz a few months back on the downhill section to the countess roundabout just outside Amesbury - caught over 100 motorists! Was in the local rag that they were planning somthing similar in the coming weeks :(

A mate of mine is works for traffic division (Cars & Bikes), he recons that 96+ is a poss ban.. (but then he does like to stir the wooden spoon..! I hope..)

Si.. >95 is 3 points, etc.. but....

if the police force keeps the money from the fines they have to be visible, try and find out if your local one does...

Im gonna have a chat with my mate and see what he recomends.. as another mate was given the option of doing a driving course, in doing so reduced his points.. which sounds pretty good to me..

My bro got caught recently on the way up from Cornwall. He was doing 94/95. The policeman said 1 or 2 more mph and it would have been more serious than 3 points/£60. I have my fingers crossed for you... I think the line is 26+ mph over the 70 limit.

  don't

police get away with whatever nowadays, theyll do anything 2 try 2 screwu over, i was lucky myself, going 2 fast and policeman was hiding with gun behind a sign, popped out at last min and told me 2 pull over, err did f*ck, was 2 months ago, not heard nothing, didnt hear him clearly anyway, oops

as 4 u m8

98 is pretty bad, 5 or 6 points i think

how longu been driving and how old ru

my m8s got court this month for 98 on motorway, clean license so far but he;s in first 2 yrs of driving so is expecting a ban

ATTENTION PEOPLE!!!!

FEATURED ON 5TH GEAR A FEW WEEKS AGO WAS A DEVICE CALLED A "TRACKER" NOW THIS ISNT THE GPS ANTI THEFT DEVICE BUT A RADAR JAMMER!

Basicaly its an electric garadge door opener that when it gets a signal it from the pigs it transmits back and jams the signal the gun needs to detect the speed and an error code shows up.

Im getting one for my car and if i get pulled then its to deactivate the security lights at my house so i dont wake everyone up when i come home at 1am! so it has a purpose, the fact that it jams pigs is another matter....

Front and back facing emmiters work a treat

I got 5pts £200 for 96mph in a 70 limit.

95mph is the cut off for the usual 3pts & £60, 96mph+ and it goes to court.

Ask to see verification as to whether the unit was calibrated before its tour of duty, and also ask to see that it was re-calibrated after its tour of duty.

This is a mandatory requirement in order to prosecute. You could risk court and then bring this matter up. Doubtful that the police would be prepared for it, and itd get thrown out, as they prolly dont test the units before and after using them.

My mate came over a hill doing 110 in his Clio in a national speed limit and he saw a van right infront of him, he basically did an emergency stop and went past the van doing 40mph still skidding! Got done for 89mph. Damn, they should fit better brakes to 1.4 mk2 ph2 clios!!!!

Btw, he got 3 points but coz hes already got 3 points (and hes not been driving for 2 years yet) so he gave them to his mum! Rude or what!

Sums up the situation really dosnt it. You really could be done for driving without due care & attention with an admission like that.

Learn from it and hope the bench dosnt put a confiscation order on your car.

Its quite funny, the other day coming back from North wales on that beautifull A470, I was tanking it along at "illegal" speeds and then when it came to 30/40zones through the villages, Id be doing the speed limit (to give my engine a rest and for saftey reasons) and then Id end up gettin a few of the people Id just overtaken doing 50mph along the lovely straights still doing 50 in the 30zones!!!

Again, when Im on the motorway/dual carriageway with central reservation, Yes i like to tank it along, but youll notice that I try to stick to speed limits around town, because thats where its dangerous!
So yeh, personally, I think 98mph on a motorway is MUCH safer than doing say 35 in a 30, on ure phone etc...

Yeah, I know it can be dangerous, but this is the kind of thing I obey and drive too...

You could try showing that to the magistrate. (You really should obey and drive to the published regulations though)

so are you trying to tell me that youve never exceeded the limit then.. Yes, what i did WAS my own doing and im responsible.. im fine with constructive criticism, but i dont see your coments as constructive..! I personally dont see 98 as being that bad, but the law of the land sees differently, Thats the price i have to pay.. i was wasnt driving like a muppet far from it , so without due car is no where near thw mark...! the road was empty apart from 4x4 up my arse trying to push me along.. (which i wasnt racing incidentally..) to try and put some distance between us...

Mitchy/Dennis.. what area was that.. suppose it all depends on the magistrate, etc. Did you have to go to court..? how long a go..?
