Airbag and Service Light on and off

  Ph1 172 Sunflower :)
i have a 172 ph1 and just recently the airbag light and Service light both come on togther and sometimes stay on for 5 mins and then they will go off for ages then come back on. strange, also i have a rattle waiting to be sorted so i was guessing that was vibrating the dash and playing about with the airbag wires? any other ideas as to why it would happen?

  Clio 182 Trophy 047/500
Its a fault with the wiring on the Airbag connector under the seat, I had it on my old Clio and was told by Renault that it was down to a faulty batch of connectors. Best option is to eaither hard wire the two halfs together or speak the Reanult and see if they can change the plug over.

If the airbag light stays on non of the airbags will work so its worth sorting out ASAP.

The airbags do work its been tested.

This problme is a common issue on all Mk2 Clios the fix has been posted by myself time and time again

Seat belt warning light

The SERV and AIRBAG lights come on its a common problem (almost every has it) its due to the wiring of the pretensioners going to an open circuit. Fiddle with the wires under the seat an the problem will go away.
On the early cars the solution is to look under each of the seats. You will see a grey connector.
On the passenger side disconnect it and cut the Blue and Brown wires off both sides. Then solder the Blue wire to blue, and the Brown to the other brown. Make sure you use insulating sleeves over the soldered connections..
Under the driver seat there are two pairs of wires in the grey connector.. Only cut the Blue and Brown wires and solder them together as above.. Reconnect the connector..
On the facelift cars it is ONLY the passenger side connector that is affected.. So again cut and solder the Blue and brown wires.
