Alarm

Hi Guys,

I have just tried to start my 172 and as soon as i turn key first click the alarm goes of. It still starts but the alarm wont stop until i disconnect the battery. Any ideas?

Did you use the plip to enter the car or the key?

these cars do not come with an alarm as standard. you must have an aftermarket alarm installed.
if the alarm is armed and you use your car key button to open the doors, it will not dis-arm the alarm because the key only activates the cenral locking. so the alarm is still active when you just use your key if you know what i mean! you should have a separate alarm fob button aswell to deactivate the alarm, using the alarm button should open your doors aswaell.

Oky have fixed my alarm problem after ages of research and finding nothing i finally found a story on here that helped hugely. Long tory short after releasing the sezied wiper and finding siren then removing dash to find cobra alarm control unit which was meant to be under passnger airbag only to find has already been removed but for some stupid reason the previous owner had wired the power wires into the stereo power supply. 2 snipped wires later t was fixed.
