Auxilary belt.

Hi everyone
Hope you can help. Just had our 172 serviced at 36000 miles. Renualt say that the auxilary belt needs changing. 273 pounds to do the job. Does that sound OK? If I get a non Renault garage to do it where do I stand on warranty issues? Cheers for any advice.

Sounds a bit dear TBH.

I had mine done at 24k because it was squeeking like a pig on heat and I don't remember paying anywhere near £270 for it.

Thats about the going rate for a dealer.
AFAIK the law has recently changed so that as long as a garage uses genuine Renault parts, the warranty remains intact.

If this is something that needs doing at 36k miles, shouldn't it be included in the 36k service and hence the price???

I wasn't looking forward to forking out £200+ for 36k service in the spring, I'm looking forward to it even less now if that doesn't include changing the aux belt and that will cost another £270 !! :(

Shell out now you could end up a bill of £2000 like i have .If aux belt parts company it might end up inside cam cover
