Best way to drain all coolant and start again?

Hello

I'm replacing my thermostat on Wednesday and would like to drain all the current coolant (probably 8-10% coolant at the minute) and then replace the thermostat and fill up with fresh 50/50 coolant/water but not sure the best way to drain the coolant (and flush the old stuff out).

Anybody who has done this before, let me know...

Lovely.

So I undo the bleed screw on the stat and let it run warm for 10 or 15mins then tighten it back up, job done?

No, open bleed when filling to let the air out as you go, leave header top off and run engine, watch and see bubbles pop up in tank.

Replace cap and run engine until all hoses get hot, try heater, job done.

I make it quicker by filling with hot water, this opens up the t'stat as you go.
