Bleeding radiator

  Suzuki Ignis
I need to bleed the radiator again as its full of rust, is there a plug at all at the bottom? Had to take the pipe off, flush it through with water, stick it back, fill it and so on... but took ages to do and didnt do the job.

Also is it ok to just put water in it, no anti-freeze? Just so i can get rid of any loose bits in there.

Mk1 btw.

-Thanks

theres no plugs or anything in the rad, you were doing the right thing, taking off the bottom hose and letting it drain.

Best way to wash all the shite out is using a hose, and just leave it running from the top pipe of the rad, eventually all the shite will come out the bottom, then just a case of put the clips back on and refill.

I used just water in mine for ages, all through winter too, best off sticking some coolant/anti-freeze stuff in there thou

Is there not a bleed screw on the rad on the bebop? if so, flush it that way from the bottom outlet on the header tank, full flush then, bar top hose, thats the one you need off because of the stat.

If there is a bleed screw (a black plastic thing) watch you don't snap it off like my dad did when having a go at bleeding the rad on my valver years ago, he broke it big time & a bit of it dropped into the hole !
How I laughed when he had to flush it out as well !

To snap one is good work, torque on them is 5Nm, quite thick the heads aswell

Bloody el', done a few (20+), never thought it would/been a problem. Does seem strange because you are feeling the lateral gravity of the water?/pull an' twist.

Ever noticed the B*ST*RDNG clips that come as standard on the bottom hose, mk1. Took me forever when I changed my radiator. Nothing goes right for me when I fix my car. My most recent conquest was rounding off a union nut on the rear drum. I know, drums, fantastic.
