Brake bleeding

  monaco 172
Hi guys.

Just ordered some new brembos front and rear for my 172.

What is the correct order for bleeding?

Also, what's the best penetrating sparay to use on the nipple? Last time I tried on my 182 the nipple snapped clean off with hardly any pressure from a tiny spanner..

Get yourself a proper flair nut spanner from Halfords for the nipple and their own penetrating spray will suffice. The normal procedure is furthest away from the master going to closest for bleeding so NSR/OSR/NSF/OSF, always served me fine.

K thanks

What difference would a flare but spanner make to stop it snapping?
Surely its just going to have the same effect as using a ring spanner?

Flare spanner is more for the pipe fitting IMO.

I personally either use a ring spanner or a 6 sided socket, being careful not to apply force at an angle.

I found my nipples would not budge and would've rounded off with an open ended spanner/12 sided ring spanner.

I put a 6 sided 11mm iirc (197 brembos) socket on them and was surprised at the amount of force I could apply... I think I need new nipples all round lol.

Passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front.

If you have brembos with two nipples per caliper, bleed the outer nipple first.

Believe it or not the OSR is the furthest away on these. Have a look underneath, it runs a longer pipe across the beam etc.

Also if its ABS then i think its diagonal bleeding to.

But tbh any way seems to do the job just be careful about the ABS pump!

  dan's cast offs.
if you're just flushing old fluid out then you can do in any order. for penetrating fluid 50/50 of acetone and atf, better than anything else.
