Hello gents,

I recently had a Fiesta ST where bits were going missing all the time, including a full set of alloy wheels.

I sold that for the reason of theft, and bought a Clio 172, however, I came home tonight to find a centre cap twisted one way to reveal the wheel nuts.

After a bit of searching tonight and a chat with a Reno bloke the other day, it turns out my car is a import without the alarm and locking wheel nuts.

Do bits get stolen off the Clio's regulary?

yup mine is pretty bad. had all my wheel trims nicked on saxo. mum had her trims on her new focus nicked and her front bumper. and i had my clio door kicked in :dapprove:

I live in a nice area, which is next to a pretty bad one tbh lol.

I thought buying a Clio 172 would be a bit of a bonus as it looks pretty standard, not that sporty compared to the others, where as the Fiesta ST is very OTT compared to the bog standard Fiesta.

Some locking wheel nuts are on order for tomorrow morning, they do those locking wheel nuts with the outside skin spins around so you can't lock on to it. Also I pm'd a bloke on here about the Renault Cobra Alarm.

When I was in Leeds I had side repeaters, bullets and centre caps nicked THREE BLOODY TIMES!! Actually went through ebay listings to see if anyone was selling these items, based in Leeds. Every clio down the street had the same, some even had wing mirror covers missing!!

I live in in bridgend and my friend had a fiesta st an had alot of stuff stolen from his car bumpers,skirts, spoilers etc etc.

I also know another guy from newport who's girlfriend had an st and also had lots of body parts stolen a few times.

I think the st's are well known for having parts stolen from them.

some little fucker kicked the expensive wing mirror of mine a few month ago .

cost £125 forthe mirror and mirror cap then £20 for spraying

its jelousy , some little smack rat has seen something he has not got and decides to destroy or steal it . they should be shot with s**t .

Touch wood nothing yet on the Clio! ... although when i had my scooby someone ripped up all the bedding plants from around my house and stuffed them into the bonnets intercooler vent, the roof scoop and the exhaust then proceeded to throw soil all over it =( idiots!

Nothing apart from the random vandalism of wing mirrors that usually occurs maybe once a year, and the theft of valve caps by school kids to decorate their bikes with.

Actually, it's more whole cars that are disappearing in my area at the moment - loads of break-ins to steal car keys.

My Dad was awoken the other night to find a group of two or three individuals pushing his C-Class off the driveway. Admittedly, he hadn't set the alarm (doh), but once he put a torch light on to them they legged it. He was lucky really.

Man it sounds like some of you guys live in proper rough areas!! Garages are the answer for petty theft of parts, even a couple of security lights & dummy CCTV should deter most intruders. You can get sets for £60 of the bay.

Security lights + dummy cctv is a good shout. If you were sneaking up to nick bits off a car and a bright light turns on as you get near + you see cctv cameras you would think twice.

I would suggest wiring the car battery to the bodywork, but that's been tried in the past and is, unfortunetly, illegal.

I've had two things stolen from cars I've owned..
An aerial off the 182 I had and, someone took a custom exhaust back box off P reg Clio I owned.
Don't know how they managed that without lifting the car up to get the pipe over the rear axle.. Must've got damaged in the process.

Pikey feckers, can't have anything nowadays through risk of it walking off in someone else's hands

we have street parking outside of house, stuff of my brothers when he had the punto were going missing all the time but as soon as a camera came nothings happened to his punto, vxr or my clio for that fact. (do be careful though of how you place the camera for privacy, when we fitted it we were warned about police getting involved for it)

sometimes using just a light doesnt help, remember in the dark its hard to see what they are doing whereas give them a light, your more or less helping them get it done quicker, and gets annoying when it comes on

Interesting, can you expand on this? I assume the camera shouldn't cover a neighbouring property, for instance?

the camera issue happened in my street. a bloke had a camera pointing at his car on his drive but because you could see the road it was "invasion of privacy" so he had to disconnect it. following weeks later some little scrote threw a brick though my mums and his car's window but luckily we knew who it was and he was told to move away to his dad's or something (bristol)

I had a skirt go missing a few centre caps and a lovely set of alloy wheels off the ST - its not nice coming out to your car up on bricks.

Not too sure what to do with mine - trying desperatly to find the cobra alarm and I've just bought a set of locking wheel nuts

Some little scrotes kept nicking my dad's tyre valve caps so he set some up with fine razor wire wrapped around them.

Problem solved. Cleaning the blood off was the only down side.

The previous owner of my car had a boot spoiler robbed off it. Im glad they didnt take the skirts because I wouldnt have bought it if they had!

sounds crazy but i always think a good idea is to get 2 laminated A4 pieces of papers of paper both reading

put them on the inside of your car on both front door windows, that way your car shouldn't get toutched, or even bits robbed

Jesus, i always thought Saltaire was pretty nice. I know theres a fairly rough council estate behind it but wouldnt have said it was that bad.

After all this discussion.... My front bumper was torn off last night in a attempt to steal it.

Oh and they tried the back bumper.

Nothing else has been touched on the car - other than a air pipe pulled off the induction pipe at the back of the throttle body?

Really f***s me off this does, I bought a Renault Alarm on here and some lockers but I fear I may have to invest in a all singing and dancing alarm which you can hear on the moon!

Its so s**t when it happens, had my 306's door bent open then £4 stolen and then they bent the door back into place(well close to). That was it. I really think the only way of solving the problem would be a national chav cull. We could use the shotguns from the previous post, have a few beers, would be fun.

On a more serious note, if you catch someone in the act be careful cos the way things are in this country, if you hurt them or similar you will get in more trouble than they will. Saw in the news a guy got a prison sentence cos he stop 3 lads from steeling stuff off a building site.

Hmm not sure really - I think it can be bolted back into place but some of the plastic pieces behind are snapped and the grill is snapped and the lugs under the wings are snapped.

Wings need painting as well :/
