hi guys i have a clio sport 172 cup. when i nail it in 1st and 2nd. (we all do it from time to time!) ever since ive had the car when it gets to 5 to 6000rpm it tends to make this sound i cant really describe it starts to happen when the car starts pulling at that rpm.

sounds like a traction control noise? lol
does this happen on other peoples car whey they pull hard?
i didnt know whether it was wheel spin but i dont think it is.
or is my car falling apart.

thanks for your help

yeah mine wheels spins after 4000rpm. its got a vairiable cam which kicks in at 4000rpm. just dont turn the wheel cause it send you all over the place

do you get a vibration through the steering? if so it's the tyres slipping and they tend to "bounce", someone on here reconed it was the wheels/tyre aren't true round and cause a bouncing effect.

i thought it might be the wheels slipping rather than proper wheel spinning.
sometimes it does it more than others weird

Its not the VVT. The VVT has nothing to do with the power kicks thats all down to the cams coming on and the fuleing maps chnaging from closed to open loops.

Its not even a variable cam realy it just advances a few degress on the intake cam.

went out again in my cup tonight not doing it much now, which is ok.

yer i know what u mean about the vibration does it with me.

guess i was just worrying as my gearbox went within 2 weeks of getting the car so was just hoping nothing was wrong this time.

by the way has my cup got that electronic stability feature?

The pulling on the steering wheel is known as torque steer. It is common on high powered front wheel drive cars.

yer i know about torque steer.

its just that on my old vtr if i booted it in 1st and 2nd and i had no grip it would just wheelspin and u would know this is wheelspin but on clio tends to make a sound thats unlike tyres wheel spinning sounds almost like traction control when u hear it on the telly ie f1.
