changing gearbox mount

  '02 Monaco Blue 172
been told my gearbox mount might be sheared or loose as have a knock when pulling in first.

how easy is this to check, tighten or fix?

I've been told (still have to do this myself, same prob) that the mount under the battery has some kind of long pin running to the box, this can be loose. Very common problem. You'll need the car on a bridge though because you have to tighten from below (size 18) and someone has to hold the top part also so it wo'nt turn as your tightening..

Its dead easy undo the car at the back of the gearbox theres the dogbone mont do a search fo a picture but it looks like it sounds but since you'll have a new one you'll know what it looks like.

No point with fancy bolts just locking thread on it.

going to do this this weekend, is the long bolt that often comes loose part of the dogbone mount, or is it a seperate piece?
want to get all bits before i get under the car!
can this be done with the car on axle stands too?

Yep can be done on stands

Nothing comes loose either the bolts not done up tight or the rubber wears as it should do.
