So after a year an a half of owning some utter tripe since selling my Petrol Blue 182 im back in something that at least is fun.

Its a 2006 Performance Blue More Door. 95k. Completely Standard. And Rusty.

Recently just had the mismatched tyres on the rear changed over to match the front Michelin PS4. Some clean Number plates and some less Halfords Metal Ripspeed mats. Its off tomorrow to Devil Developments for a Cambelt and 'Blockmod'. The blockmod is more to just check the Piston liners haven't cracked, but as said its been standard its whole life so should be fine. Plans are currently to drive it and enjoy it for what it is at the moment.

The noise is epic and the low end torque is just effortless.

Welcome to the 5 pot boost club.

Get it mapped at least, nothing chavvy, but they gain a LOT of torque over standard. Like 70lbft.

with an intercooler and exhaust you’ll be chooching at over 300bhp and that’s a LOT of fun.

Nice. Can't go wrong with an ST. I had a 2009 ST-2 with the MP260 kit and an RS clutch. Had the center silencer removed and it sounded mental!

Nice little project! I had one for two weeks, they need more pier desperately, I tried every night to hit 150mph on the A2 in it, failed everytime even with a couple of mile run up.

Engine sounds epic though

shame 99% have been ruined by council c***s nowadays 😩

Great value for money. I just can’t get on with the pre facelift ones which is unusual for me as the older it gets the more I like it normally.

Cheers guys.

A bit more history on it, it had been owned previously buy 1 guy who lived way up into Scotland, no idea how it made itself to the other end of the Country ! The guy who i bought it off only had it for 2 months.

Picked it up on Friday after the Blockmod, all ok with the Piston liners thankfully. They did find a broken breather pipe and got that replaced. Also mentioned the Filter housing could do with replacing at the next service. Suspect it will be back with them before to long for an Exhaust.

Have ordered up the bits to get an open filter on and to do away with the Sound Symposer as they also highlighted the pipe for that looks a little tired, seem like a common place for a boost leak anyway. Will see how it sounds after !

Also got round to cleaning it and giving a coat of wax.

Loved mine, needed a map desperately. I had an airtec cooler, revo map, full miltek, eibachs, rear arb and a mount maybe gearbox. It flew. The noise of it was insane and probably one of the best all round cars I’ve owned. Mine was also performance blue, will look forward to seeing what you do

Was hoping to be cracking on with the Induction setup this weekend but none of the parts have turned up ! Also plans might have to be put back a little bit as iv got the dreaded Driveshaft wobble ! Seems like a fairly common issue so it will be getting booked in to sort that out as well as the brakes asap.

Got the MPG counter to read into the 20's Yesterday !!!

We had the exact same car. Because it had 5 doors = family car. I think we had it about 4 years, it was that good. It was an ST-3 if I recall.
Back then, I invested in a Bluefin device thing and it transformed it. The car was poo in standard form. It was just munching fuel for the sake of it, at least after that it was worthy of all the petrol station visits.
Are these coming down in price now? The 5 doors, when we were looking, weren't easy to source (I might be making that up, it was over 10 years ago).

Booked the car in with a local Ford Specialist yesterday to sort the Driveshaft out and also change the brakes, they were done by lunchtime and gave the car a good look over and were surprised how decent it all looked. They say they get a lot of people in wanting to spend the least amount of money to fix the ST and most are in pretty bad shape as they've all been modified my someone's mate with next to no money.

Also today after nearly 3 weeks all the Induction parts have turned up. Got a Kit form Pumaspeed that includes the Air filter, Crossover pipe and the ECU relocation brackets. With the open air filter being moved to the RHS of the bay and the Cold air feeds for the ST coming in at the front, iv seen a few people shell £100 out for a RS Slam Panel cover to move the CAF... Or you can buy the Facelifted Diesel item for £16 and cut a small piece off it (y) Will get that all fitted at the weekend if this weather holds up :)

Also been toying with the idea of some different wheels as the originals are beyond saving in reality. They have so much pitting on them im not sure there gonna look much better if they are refurbished.

Thoughts on these BBS SR ?

Never noticed about the Golf wheels Similarity till i just looked !

Those BBS are £300 cheaper than a new set from Ford !
If you can get your wheels to me, I can get them looking like brand new for £216. I don’t care how pitted or damaged they are (as long as they’re not cracked) but the guys we use are literal magicians.

offers there. X

Got on with removing the Symposer this morning. Like a tit i forgot to order the new Silicone hose that is prone to cracking ! Just got the bung in there for the time being. The sound in the cabin is much more muted now. Hopefully fitting all the other bits will bring it back to life.

Also yesterday evening i popped out to record the stock engine noise to compare them. While i was at it i also grabbed some footage of the stock Exhaust. You can get some decent Pops and Crackles from it when its warm :)

If you get the centre silencer taken out they sound amazing.

I kinda wish I had a sound symposer sometimes, they do sound quite good with the noise piped to the cabin, but ultimately it's not worth the issues.

I'd highly, highly, recommend a Milltek. I love mine. It just shuts up when you want it to be sensible and makes a lovely note on song.

Cracked on with the Induction setup yesterday. Removing the old airbox is a complete nightmare, as was the crossover and the Turbo to Crossover pipe...Basically all of it ! Iv never known a Ford to be this well built ! But considering everything is a Volvo part im not really surprised.

Had a minor issue once it was all off and found the New crossover pipe doesnt have 2 ports for the 2 vacuum lines the cars got. After some digging around and help from @McGherkin turns out one of them can be blocked as its not needed only the Prefacelift versions have them. Got the ECU bracket installed and the air filter on yesterday and then this morning sorted out the crossover.

Its got a lot more turbo noise now but sort of missing the growl given by the symposer !

20210606_103646.jpg

Il nip out later and record the noise difference.

Got a RS vac pipe kit coming soon to sort out that mess by the filter. And then its Intercooler, Exhaust and mapping :D
