City powder coating

I know they are hard to speak to on the phone , if i turn up with 2 sets of wheels to be refurbed and leave them there for a week will they get sorted ?

its a bit of a journey for me but its worth saving the money on 2 sets .

Iv'e never known them take longer than 3 days for any set iv'e taken in.

Just make sure you put the point across that you HAVE to get them back in a week without fail.

ok ...... worth getting the tyres removed before i take them ? as i need a new set fitting so going to go see the tyre place potentially and get them stripped off ...... and being fair easier to take a set of 18's and a set of 16's up without tyres on .....

next anthracite or not for the cup wheels........:)

I took the wife's 197 wheels there with a new set of tyres. They took the old off, powdercoated and fitted the new.

To be honest, i'm pleased with their work (wheels look good after all the snow and salt on the roads), but they do have a habit of finishing the job several days later than they said they would ( but not always!). Just make sure they're definately finished before you set out to pick them up!

You get what you pay for, if you paid more you could guarantee you would get them back in time

I can imagine they are forever busy for the price they charge, so you have to expect little set backs from time to time

Don't mind them taking a week , just know they are a nightmare on the phone , and don't want to drive an hour and a half on the following week to find they arn't done ......

none of the wheels has any curbing so its a fairly straight forward job ....

its ideal while i am doing a rebuild job on the clio .

2-4 days they say.

I took mine one Saturday and collected the next.

Had no problems getting them on the phone either tbh.

Well dropped off 2 sets on tuesday and picked them up today , stunning job for the money .......

Had our S4 18's done and the turinis , now thinking of swapping tyres on the S4 and getting something done to the rs4 reps currently on the S4 before i sell it .

oh and the £20 offer is coming to an end but they now have a drop your car off at 8.00am , go shopping and return at 5.00pm to all your wheels refurbed ....

brilliant .

Got any close ups of the Turninis?
I want to get mine done but if the preps not good enough youll see corrosion pitting through the new paint.

will take some up close pics today , and i'll post em up .

i have not had a stupidly close look but my initial view is they are great for the money , and hey this is a 10 year old car ,

as for the links not working , they work fine for me !!

Tyres , they charge a tenner to remove and refit per wheel ....

Cheers buddy. Links are working now for some reason.

ok just a phone pic but i have had a good look over them and they are pretty near perfect , they were pretty bad corroded and peeling , and they look spot on to me

same with the audi ones , cannot fault them for the price , and if someone had charge 50 quid a wheel i doubt they would be any better from what i have seen in the past .....

When I spoke with them this morning the guy said it will stay at £20 until the cost of powder goes up. Apparently their supplier keeps warning of a price rise but it hasn't happened yet?

Problem is there USP is the cheapness of the work thats why they get sooo much business, if they drop the offer then i don't think there quality of work can stand up to higher prices..

Their work is very good, especially considering the price. Customer service skills are crap, but when they're that cheap, who cares...

My wheels were properly battered before taking them in, like ridiculously bad. All of the wheels came back near enough perfect.

As in kerbed badly?

I have a set of wheels with light kerbing and would happily make the 3 hour journey.

As in kerbed badly?
Yup. Very badly. I think the previous owner just rolled down a curb for a few miles.

Apart from this one with the flat top ;)
Meh. It's not actually that bad in person. Im not complaining and i'm super anal about this kind of thing... Before the refurb, there pretty much wasn't any of the lip there.
They were all moaning at me when I picked them up as they had to do loads of work to get them to that level LOL. They really were properly battered.

Wish i had known about these before i had mine refurbed in 2011:( i paid 3 times as much to have my 5 superleggeras done.

Iirc Don's turini's were in a right sorry state and are now mint after taking them to citypowdercoating.

Shall be taking my 182 wheels there to be refurbed just a shame that they don't do wet spraying for the centre caps.

Having a bit of a nightmare atm tbh. Wheels where couriered there about 3 weeks ago no problem and then I was going to drive over and pick them up. I asked if they are willing to pack them up for me of I arranged a courier to collect them and they had no problem. Parsley Fright where ment to pick them up on Thursday who told me a Kelly said there was no parcels there. City powder coating said they didn't have a Kelly there:/ Re arranged it for yesterday, rang City today and no one turned up again, rang couriers and a John Davis said there was no wheels there. So it's re booked in again for today. If no luck I'm driving there my self on Saturday! Haha

Courier finally picked mine up yesterday and delivered today. I haven't seen them yet she sent a few photos over and they look good.

The only real pain with City is the fact that they are SO busy that they don't answer the phone. For the price that they charge, you can't grumble. You could spend several times the price that they charge and not get a better job. When you consider the state I bought mine in and how they ended up...for 20 notes a wheel for refurb/powdercoat lacquer it is a bargain.

  LY Megane R26
Happy with mine to be honest.
They where oz-f1 with slight curbing to a few of them and a few little dinks in the face of the wheel, for £20 a wheel plus the £32 it cost me to courier them there and back I can't grumble.
They have a few little niggily bits, ones on the vavle but once a valve is in there it shoundn't be a problem.
For 12 year old wheels on a 10 year old car there spot on!

Wicked Wheels around here wanted £55 + VAT a wheel becuase I wanted antrachite, so £66 if I took them there with tyres off and collcted them after 7 days, thats ridiculous!

As said alot of times tho there a bit useless at getting hold off and there emails are fairly blunt. I had alot of problems with the courier not picked them up, took them a week! But wasn't sure whos fault it was tbh.

A few months down the line, what are people's thoughts on citypowdercoating?

They're still offering their almost unbelievable price of £20 per wheel, and while you get what you pay for I'm finding this offer difficult to ignore.
