Clio Alarm (FF 172 mk2)

Clio Alarm on a FF 172 mk2, was this an optional extra?. I cant see any evidence of an alarm on mine and if i lock it with windows down, it doesnt go off.........infact ive had it a year+ and its never gone off once.....

BTW tried the search for this question, no joy....

Cheers,
Si

Imports didnt have them fitted standard IIRC, or locking wheel nuts.

If it has an Alarm it should have little Volumetric sensors fitted to the A frame near the front windscreen

Even the imports have to have them retro-fitted iirc. Sounds like somebody just got fed up with it. Do you have the LED near the gearstick?

I Believe my 182 was one of the early imports. Mine has a sigma alarm fitted. Have a little keypad in the windscreen.

I've moved this here, but i'm not 100% if it's in the right section now  So it's possible it'll move again, sorry.

Aye mine had a Sigma alarm, not Cobra, but then again it has locking nuts too. Renault can never find it on their system when I give the number plate, end up reading out the VIN. It's a bit strange really. It didn't have a keypad though.

Things to look out for are the sensors on the A-Frame, the LED near the gearstick, the sound emitter underneath the scuttle panel and the main unit underneath the passenger airbag. If somebody has removed it chances are the sound emitter will still be under the scuttle panel, because it's hard to remove.

I have the flashing light in the dash console thats all..........and the flob to lock / open the car etc. Ill have a gander for the rest (nope cnt see jack all else).

***Also in the center lower section of my wind screen theres a square about 20 cm by 10 cm, which looks a diff colour to the rest of the screen. What the hell is this for?

Well this is where I get a bit confused. I *think* you only have that wired to the alarm, whereas the light that flashes in-between the dials is for the immobiliser? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but that would suggest to me that it has at some point had an alarm fitted.

If its a parrellel import then it won't have an alarm as standard simple as. The alarms were fitted to UK spec cars at the docks in southampton when they came into the country, reason being is for the car to comply with the CAT1 standard which is a UK only thing.
So cars originally bound for other RHD countries that ended up here won't have an alarm/locking wheel nuts/window etching.

They never HAD to have an alarm fitted at all.
