Clio port & polished inlet and 65mm throttleboddie

  Clio 182 cup
Hi, after owning my clio 182 cup for 7months now i am wanting to gain some more power. I need to ask you guys afew questions as ive not got alot of knowledge on the car. At present i am running a miltek cat back with decat pipe. First question is will i gain sound difference and air flow through buying a stainless 4-2-1 tubular manifold im not sure if the stock one is 4-2-1 already??. Secondly im looking at buying port and polished inlet and a 65mm throttle boddie and then taking it to rs tuning to see if they can get a good map on the car. Feedback will be appreciated. Many thanks, Jack

Hi mate.

Leave the throttle body - the size of the standard body is not a restriction until you are at very high power, so save your money there.

Ok thanks for that, it was just i read having a bored body to 65mm increases the air flow by 24% so didnt know if the 65mm body would give me a better map

Stock manifold is also very good and used on the cup racer cars iirc. No need to spend money there either! If you wanna spend money get an RS2 manifold and take it to RS tuning.. You'll be around 190 bhp ish then

You are right mate it will increase air flow BUT the stock body flows plenty of air - it isn't a restriction as standard. The inlets restrict air, hence having them ported helps, but if you are looking for more power the best way is new camshafts, throttle bodies or the rs2 inlet manifold.

Unfortunately all of these cost a lot (think hundreds for cams, and over a thousand for the rs2, and around 1500 for the throttle bodies)

These is no easy way of getting more power out of these engines, as they are technically tuned as standard - tye base of these engines was the 138bhp espace engine.

If you see anywhere saying you can get close to 200bhp from exhaust and filter change with a remap are lying.

Ha thats that then, ive been on rs tuning website looking at the 4.2.1 catcams but wasnt planning on anything too big untill next summer. Just wanted to start the car as a little project and see if i got hooked. Got to have a serious think. thanks
