COD vs. BF

This isn't a topic to slate either, but to give opinions on the two games.

I've played COD since the 3rd one, and haven't missed a release since. I've only played BF1.

From what I've seen, the new BF is going to be the better game. The only reason I stick with COD, is due to my mates. We all (8 of us) play COD every year.

So, excluding playing the game because your mates do, what is the reason you play/prefer COD/BF?

Battlefield 3

Modern Warfare 3

I don't honestly think the two can be compared.

On the face of it they look the same, but they play so differently, and it is hard to explain how, but if you have played both then you just know.

I am a COD fanboy, but BF3 has me slightly more excited this time around. COD is (used to be) simple, gun on gun,, battlefield gets boring very quickly when people just sit in tanks all game. I prefer straight up gun on gun fighting, which COD seems to offer. Now with the TDM mode on BF3 it may be different though.

Remember though, BFBC2 is very different from what BF3 will be.

Not really played any of the newer games.

But BF2 on the PC was epic. All this talk of the new Battle Field has reminded me of this though

They re completely different games
MWF is an ego-shooter, where you can be faster with your knife than any other guy with a rifles and machineguns :D
the Single player mode s amazing and the Multi s great fun too

BF is more than a geeky shooter, very technical stuff where you ll rely on team work rather than individual skills
that's why the single player s alway utterly s**t and the MUlti can the ultimate experience if you re playing with the right people

I stick up for MWF :D

I loved MW/MW2 but got bored. Picked up BF2 in Asda after a friend recommended it to me and I've been a convert ever since.I prefer the emphasis placed on team work in BF not to mention the huge stunning vistas you fight in where as MW is just one man rushing around small maps. Snipers aren't the over powering class as you have to compensate for round drop over the distance and there aren't any silly killstreaks that over power you. You can go one man Rambo if you like but you won't survive against a well organised opposing team.

Totally different games IMO.

It's like comparing Forza 4 to Ridge Racer. The only similarity is the subject matter.

I'm a Battlefield man, personally; I love how tactical it is.

Battlefield 3 will be incredible. I don't think I'll even buy MW3.

Basically what Chris said, but not with so much of a Manc accent and I'm COD over BF as I hated Bad Company 1 & 2 after coming from a BF2 obsession. BF3 could reignite the love but it has a lot to live up to for me to admit that it's better than BF2 was.

I've got them both on preorder and I'll play them both, but I do not doubt at all that COD will get a lot more game time and BF3 will eventually be left on the shelf gathering dust.

Do we really need another one of these threads? Been discussed loads on here already.

BF is the winner for me and I've only played BFBC2, compared to having played all the COD games so far apart from BLOPS

It worries me that a lot of people are turning to BF from COD as it will mean the suposedly more "grown up" approach/players of the BF series are going to get invaded by all the COD "kids" etc...massive potential for it to be a victim of it's own success.

BF3 for me too, i'll wait for reviews on MW3 before i buy. BC2 is a great, I have really gotten sick of MW2 recently for that^ exact reason (but in my case its run in and die) lol

I've had every title from both camps since they first launched. I'm really, really keen to see what they achieve with BF3 this time around with the developers claiming that the PC is the lead platform for it. About fecking time they remembered their roots. ;)

I've always really liked the COD single player campaigns. Involving, well scripted and sometimes funny - yet the online section has kept me away with utter frustration. Even now - the latest online COD feels like an FPS from about 2001 but with prettier graphics. It's like the series has stagnated and is scared to move on from the 48 weapon modifications of an AK-47, rather than push forward with better gameplay and team-focused progression.

BF carved a niche for me when I played the Tobruk demo on BF1942 all those years ago. Vehicles were the way forward and remain so to this day. They change the dynamic of what is essentially another straight-forward FPS game and correctly used, they can switch the balance in your favour. Incorrectly used and they are nothing more than a liability.

Nothing, but nothing beats online play than a BF game when the squad or the team as a whole, is working together. It's such a rare and superb event to take part in, that I simply wish all rounds were like that. I guess that's what I'm looking for with each future round played - that sequence of minutes where the players gel and mutually support each other. MW for me simply doesn't portray that sense of teamplay anywhere near as good as BF.

COD suits my play style better, I like to run, gun and have fun (I just made that up all by myself) and not lie down in some grass for 20 minutes waiting for a heli to f**k off. Tactical games suck baws even more so when you're on the recieving end of a kicking from some nerdy team all working together in their virgin ways whilst your team is full of mostly n00bs or people that have no f**king clue how to play as a team "OOOH I'MA GONNA GET ME A <insert vehicle name here that will shortly be a smouldering pile>!".

BF2 was great fun for the years I played it, but I think a lot of that was down to the people I played with and because I'd not played a COD game at that point.

This for me to. I absolutely hate it when I am beaten at BC2, because you know on the other end is some fat tw*t who hasn't seen the light of day for 2 weeks, nor seen a pair of tits except on pornhub, who is complaining about the game not being accurate because the tank he is in is using the wrong type of ammunition.

COD on the other hand, I rape at.

I will be playing BF3 until COD comes out and if COD doesn't come up to scratch then I'll be trading straight back in.

It's not that difficult. For one, the pace of CoD is way more frantic and it's basically a very well balanced shooter. BF is much more of a scaled down sim which plays more realistically and focuses a lot more on team efforts and classes. Oh, and it also has a new engine that looks mental nice.

I was COD all the way up until BFBC2 arrived. I only bought it for the single player and didn't even know about BF games before that. Incredible. Fobbed off all COD's that have since been released as I just don't think I'll get the same addiction.

I finished the single player and thought I'd have a quick go online - my first real online gaming experience, too. Hooked ever since. 350+ hours of BC2.

Literally cannot wait for BF3. Pre-ordered it as soon as it was available to pre-order. I kinda agree to a point that it's a team based game, but on Conquest you can just go about doing your own thing if you want. I always pick to be part of a squad, but if none of my mates are online, I'll just join another team or see folk adding themselves to my squad. Not fussed. It can be very rewarding having 3 mates alongside you, but if you do choose to be on your own, it's still a truly brilliant game and you feel like Rambo.

Battlefield wins hands down for me its just a much more involved game IMO! I like being able to change my class when I die to suit whatever's happening in the game, when you're team works together you decimate all!

The graphics and sounds in battlefield are so much better IMO with a decent headset on and war tapes on its immense!!

the weapons are more enjoyable to use for me and sniping is so much more rewarding!....cant wait to play it now!!

Why not just snipe the pilot if he's daft enough to stay still? Then steal his chopper... ;)

ROFL @ "working together in their virgin ways"!!!

True, the team play element of bf2 was a world apart from the cod series. Graphically, it was pretty mediocre-it was the gameplay that made it imho.

Hopefully still be the opportunity for heliwhoring in bf3-be good to fly some new maps. I imagine people will still cry about seatswitching :rasp:

I play them both, and I like them for the (already discussed) strengths they both possess. The one thing that tips it for me though, is that on BF2, you generally dont get some screeching emo 14 year old complaining, or even worse, singing down the mic in an attempt to look cool on the Internet.

Lets be honest here the only good COD game is COD2. The rest of the COD crap that was produced only got attention because there was no proper "sequel" to BF2 (if anyone thinks the Bad Companies or even 2142 were sequels then they need to be shot).

So in conclusion BF3 all the way and about bloody time too.
