Coilover setup please

Hi guys,

recently bought a 172 running the gaz height and damping adjustable coilovers. Have a receipt saying they were set up by Mark Fish a while back, but i think they need a little more tuning

When cornering fairly hard (both fast road and track) the rear end seems to bounce quite a lot, and its quite disconcerting. what should i be doing with the damper settings?

Also, i think the tyre pressures are a little low (21psi front, 28psi back), so what should i be running them at? running oz f1s with Yoko paradas

general grip seems very good for day to day use, but want to get rid of this bouncing

any help much appreciated :)

aside from tyre pressures (try about 26-28 all round for a start and see how you get on, as Fred said, they're a bit c**k eyed) I'd think if it's bouncing you have too soft damping for the springs. Gaz damping adjustment is crap though, so you may struggle to improve on it

26-28psi? Really? Hmmm my tyre place (I know not the best place to get advice from) reckoned 32 all round on mine? 16" OZ F1s 195/45/16s.

Might explain mine being a bit "interesting" in the corners?

Thought as much tbh, guess I will just have to blame my driving making it interesting in the corners lol!!

The rear seems very skittish when pushing it!

tim - i thought so too, but i dont think the adjusters are still in any more. will have to double check, as i'd need to find some new ones

played about with the tyre pressures and does seem to have made a differerence as the rears were low

i got my gaz front shockers serviced and i put a softer spring on and that made a world of difference.

i found the standard gaz springs too hard and bouncy.

hutchie, what sorta price are the springs?

tweeks do a full range,

we had some lying around spare from rally car with no narkings on, so cant divulge what ones im running :(

the gaz rear shockers are pap though, i chucked mine in the scrap bin.

replaced with LEDA's
