Converting 172 ph1 suspension to 182 cup...urgent help needed



  CRX,205,Type S,172..
Im doing this conversion so I need some help
I dont use abs anyway

I found 182 cup breaking
So what do i need?

- rear beam ( it should be wider afaik?)
- front hubs 60mm ( i will need to covert my damper) they should be wider too?
- front wishbones

Anything else i need

You need the front subframe. That's where the track width comes from, not the hubs. You can retain your original hubs so I'd leave them tbh.
I don't know if that's totally right mate. Subframe is part of it but there is also a difference in the hubs, tie rods, wishbones and driveshafts on the cups. Appreciate some of the track will come from the frame but it's the combination of the parts which gives the full set up. Rear axle has a slightly thicker torsion bar but everything else is the same.

100% definite there's no benefit from the hubs in terms of widening the track mate. I once thought the same as you, but have since found out different. The wishbones off a cup have increased castor but nothing else.
The difference in the 60mm spacing hubs is the steering arms mate. I've seen enough of them now from the roll centre group buys to say this with confidence.

The driveshafts on a ph1 172 may well not be long enough to cope with the additional width so they would need to be swapped over to be safe

Ahh, very interesting. So to cup pack a car you just change to a cup pack subframe and if you want the castor swap over the wishbones. I learnt something today! :)
