Crashed the Car :S

well it wasnt much of a crash Really just Slid forwards when i was trying to turn on a wet patch of road so i Slipped into the Curb

Bassically the Alloy hit the Curb parallel cuz of the lock i had on it it went bang and so did the seat Air bag.

All that appears to be damaged is the alloy deffernetly but were the leaf arm is there is a little bit that attachs to the leaf arm that has two bolts in and one of the bolts has just gone Which causes the wheel to rock backwards and forwards because it is pivoting on the one bolt now. (see pic)

Also another part thats bent is the Steering shaft thing cant remember the name. Unless of course its ment to be bent on the passenger Side but im pretty sure its not (see pic)

The Question is now How much is it going to Cost To repair these parts im not to worried about the bolt just if anything is twisted then im worried but as for that Steering Part im not sure how much they are any ideas?

Thats a fair old thump youve given it.

Youll need a new steering rack as if the arms bent you can be sure the internals as screwed and the last thing you want is a tooth failing when your driving along.

The lower ball joint bolt can be replaced easily.

Guy from work did this in a rover 25 and ended up with an insurance bill for over 3k for a new subframe.

Get it checked properly, not by some two bit bodger of a garage.

Sorry to hear.

Seat airbag went off for that? Seems a bit sensitive. Thatll probably cost the most to replace.

I hit a manhole cover in my vts in August.

Smashed alloy, tyre, supsension damper, steering rod, track rod end, wishbone, wheel bearing. Insurance job of approx £800.

i did that exactly a year ago to this date

but all id done was shear off a couple of bolts, which my brother in law fixed for me, so it wasnt all bad in the end

Cost to repair depends on loads of things ie where your buying the bits from ie new, second hand etc and what sort of rates your paying to get it does ie getting a friend to do it.

Also its other damage with you cannot see which will make the bill jump the subframe should be ok as if its not then forget it the cars almost a right off.

If you have just bent the rack and that bit the picture shown which mounts the hub bit and the am then the costs should be.

77 01 472 038 KIT BALLJOINT £36.70 ex vat

You could just buy the bolt and nut for.

77 00 757 685 SHAFT M10X1250-28 £0.69 ex vat

77 03 034 114 NUT £0.91 ex vat

But IMo best buy the whole thing just incase it is damaged it not a huge extra cost.

If youve bent the arm its

82 00 197 179 BRAS SUSPENS £35.30 ex vat

Stearing is the expensive bit

77 00 437 054 STEERING RACK £444.31 ex vat

And you cannot just buy it in bits so might be worth having it heated up and bent to shape or try the numbers below to see if they have any in.

Dave Appleby 07768 814710 or 01769 540123
Or call Matt 01254 386661

Since you set the airbag off youve got yourself a big problem

82 00 187 646 AIR BAG £196.72

Plus you need a new airbag computer

82 00 136 038 COMPUTER A BAG £131.93 ex vat

Plus you have to have the seats sown up again so it might be worth looking at either getting new seats (youll still neeed a new computer) or forgetting the airbags have a resister (4.6 ohms I think) stuck into the airbag circuit so it thinks theres one there and then just sowing th seat back up without an airbag.

Through the insurance it will cost about £2k Id guess.

Which bits the steering Rack ive replaced the bolt in the Lower leaf Arm if thats wot its called and thats all back ok just Steering is out obviously.

that part that you can see that is bent is the only part that seams to be wrong as i can still steer the Car just its out of Alignment due to that part there thats bent

Any ideas on just that part that you can see is bent

Cheers Edde For all them numbers as well

Arr I just wrote a reply but the forum wouldnt post it, its so anoying.

Anyway the bar youve bent is part of the whole electric rack consisting of the two bars ie one for each of the front wheels and the tube like bit between them. You might be lucky and havnt damaged he internals if so then all youd have to do is bend the bar back. To do this heat it up and knock it slowly back to shape DONT whatever you do just knock it with a hammer back to shape as your likly to break the bar for good, heat it and bend it.

As for how to do it well you might get away doing it whilst its still on the car otherwise youll have to remove the rack however it might make it easier to bend back to shape removed from the car.

You might want to think about having some extra metal bars welded onto the bar youve bent when its back in shape to help strenghten it just incase. To do this youve very likly to have to have to remove the rack.

Make sure you get the tracking done though after you fix it.

right ok then hopefully thats all that needs fixing since i can steer fine just the trackin is well out of Allignment since when i drive now its just fighting against each other just the wheel ive bashed looks a bit further back then it should be but im getting a propper mechanic To look at it tomorrow

thank you For your help you might of Saved me alot of money and deffernetly a lot of trouble

If youre airbags have deployed youll possibly need a new ecu as well, someone will be able to confirm this but I believe Geoff (Essex_Lads_Bro) did the same and needed a new ecu.

As I wrote earlier if you want airbags then firstly youll need a new one and youll need a new airbag computer (prices in earlier posts).

Might be worth getting it to somwhere who will do some geometry checks on the car it might be hidden damage which means youll have to go through the insurance.

  Skoda Fabia vRS

from what i can see, you definitely need a new rack, and id replace the ball joint aswell, there really cheap

so far its in a garage with one of our dads mates he is qualified so it will be done right and the price comes out at £150 to make it driveable he sed. Thats with replacing quite a lot of the parts on the car lol so i was pretty chuffed with that price but first he sed he is going order the parts stick them on and check to See if its ok so hopfully its not a right off. But im happy with the price if its not. Just need to know if i can get a replacement Alloy

Leage Velocity 16"

TBH theres one thing making it drivable its quite another to make it safe, you will need the airbag bits sorting.

wel atm im just interested in getting it Driveable the air bag is the one in the seat that i will be forgetting about and as far as most garages are concerned it is not law to have an air bag in the seat so i should be ok With that.

It would be nice to have it back but its just to much for me to pay out for and i cant claim off the insurence because they will just take every penny that i have.

after Xmas i will be getting rid of the car and getting a new one because i will never be able to trust it fully now even tho All the parts that are broken are getting replaced.

i did the same thing last year...but i took my sump out.... and 2 wishbones, and 2 tyres.... mental... it was the broken master cylindr that caused it though....
