Cup spoiler prep advice

Currently i have a pearl black cup spoiler with a perfect proffesional finish.
It needs a spraying titanium silver for my 182.

My question is, do i need to sand it down or can it just be sprayed?
If so what grade of sand paper would you recomend?

Pearl black? Not black gold? :S

I'd think it'll need sanding back. I doubt the paintwork as is will be suitable to respray directly on to.

Wet and dry will do the job. You'll need to start aggressive gradually going down to a fine paper. Halfrauds sell it cheap enough.

Are you respraying yourself? I'd have thought a body shop (if going there) would've prepped it for you.

well the bodyshop will do the prep work before painting it anyways , if you have a go yourself you could make more work for the bodyshop and you end up payin more

not much point in prepping it yourself as the bodyshop will be able to do it no probs and won't take much off the price if all all if you do it

plus if you prep it and tell them just to spray then they will not take liability if the paint finish isn't perfect due to you prepping it yourself

Yeah don't touch it, it'll take about 20mins for them to get it mint for painting.

agreed mine was primed when I bought it, and they went mental, had to be done 3 times in the end as it was a really poor prime job, its still not 100% perfect for me, the insides a bit rough but you can't really see it unless you stare at it with the boot open
