Cup Tailgate Strut

Are the tailgate struts on a cup different to a normal 172 because I want to fit a cup spoiler without it knocking the aerial?

Is the cup spoiler of a 172 the same as the cup spoiler of a 182?

I've got a 182 with both cup packs, and the standard aerial made the tiniest amount of contact with the spoiler - not enough to be worried about. I took a hacksaw to the aerial anyway (and replaced the rubber cap on the end) as I think it looks better shorter. I wanted to fit one of those really short, stubby, 'bullet' style aluminium aerials (anodised black) - but figured it would get pinched. Radio still seems to work fine, but I mainly listen to cd's anyway.

Iirc only the V6 and Trophy specs. needed shorter struts - because they have the largest spoiler.

Indeed it is

Correct

If I were you mate, I'd just cut my aerial down a bit, as it looks better and people say they have no problems with reception, best of all, it solves your problem.

I had a cup spoiler before on a 1.6 16v and ended up having to buy v6 struts, I just wanted to know how come the spoiler on a 172 cup doesnt hit the aerial, must be something different. Maybe Renault changed the position of the aerial or they've got shorter struts?
