Get them done ASAP mate, this will kill both your shafts VERY quickly

what are these? and how do you know when they have gone??

Basically behind the hub there is a boot that goes from the shaft to the hub, sometimes this boot comes free from behind the hub and spills grease on to the inside of the alloy, just check to see if its still attached/split.

If its not split, it should be as easy as re-greasing and re-clipping. If its split you will need a new boot.

Also if it has split and let grease out, buy some CV grease and repack it, as it would have lost grease, and it might cause the joint to run dry

So we thinking a decent jubilee clip then?

Ive used a giant jubilee clip on mine two years on its still holding well

Same here.

This is what Renault dealers use too when a car comes in for a service with the same problem apparently. (saves ordering a part and does a better long term job)

Top up with special CV greese if needed and as already mentioned if split, new boot time

What pliers are you using to pinch it up dude? Brake cleaner'd the boot?

If you're using proper CV pliers and the joint is bone dry around the neck of the shaft and inside the leading edge of the boot, there's no reason why they'd come loose, lol. Jubilee clips work mint too though!

cause the gaitor had been off for a while. water, grit and dirt can all get inside and damage the joints causing knocking or even fail and we have had alot of rain past few days! Priced it up just incase so i was prepared for it but it didnt need it, £1.70 jubilee clip and £2.50 tub of cv grease sorted it :rasp:
