I hate cars. The stop, glow plug and the red EML light with stop written in the middle come on when going to work this morning. No loss of power or anything. No injection fault in the dash diagnostics fault finding thingy. Car is still running and starting fine, although it did take a bit longer to start this morning. Had a quick search on here and it seems this is a fuel pump issue.

Is there anything else that could have caused this before I start jumping to conclusions? If not, where's the best/cheapest place for me to get a fuel pump from?

If it's still running ok, leave it alone!!!!!!!

I usually would but I know if you wait until the fuel pump dies then the whole fuel system including injectors will probably end up needing replaced. There might be no problem, and I might be being paranoid, but I'd rather replace a fuel pump for a few hundred quid than have to get the whole fuel system cleaned out and replaced!

I would be inclined to say it's an injector fault tbh, if you turn the car of then on again does it reset?

I had this with my old 100, was a partially blocked injector.

All the lights went back off after a second or two of lifting off the throttle. The injectors were reconditioned about 50k miles ago, so I'm hoping it isn't that.

It was popping up under full throttle? Is it remapped?

It wasn't full throttle, I was accelerating pretty gently up to about 60mph in 5th gear. Car was still quite cold at the time so I was taking it easy. It's not remapped either, completely standard, besides having the egr unplugged.

Hhhmmm strange, well it could've been a sensor misread so maybe you have the possibility to connect a diagnose machine?

If fuel pressure gets below target the whole dash will illuminate, so if the sensor had some kind of hickup that could've been the case...

i wouldn't be too worried about the pump if i where you

new filter and some worths diesel cleaner put into the filter first. . jobs a goodn.

wouldnt worry about pump til it starts trying to cut out or flags up allot longer with hardly any power/ longer cranking starts.

( flagging up longer dont apply to tutuur as he's forcivly maxing his pump out lol :p )

I'm hoping it's a simple sensor misread. I'll try and get it on to diagnostics, see if it's flagged anything up. Maybe try a leak off test too and get a look at the fuel, just to make sure there's no metal bits floating about.

Raz, I'll try that. I take it the pump wont start causing any real damage until it reaches a point where it's cutting out and struggling to start then?

the ones ive destroyed , ( and seen dead ) crank forever and flash like a cristmas tree, then sort of fire up with help of easystart.

also the pump will cut out when its gone, and when that happens your lucky if it starts again.

clogged injectors aint so bad, may caulse longer cranking as the can get stuck oppen droping rail presure ( dci ecu wont let it fire up unless at optimum crank pressure and optimum crank RPM ) or causle lights on load type driving or going for it !

Ah right, I'll probably have a check of everything anyway, just to be safe. I just want to catch the pump early enough (if it is at fault) so that it doesn't f**k my injectors!

I would get a leak off test done on the injectors before going for the pump, I get at least 2 1.5 dci's a week with injectors leaking back to much..
