Difference between 5 and 6 point harness? - and mounting point/s

Am I right in thinking the difference is just that the crotch clip (into the buckle) has two straps going from it? Presumably are these then meant to be then secured to two mounting points?

I saw a 6 point yesterday and both crotch straps were mounted to the same point.

Also the crotch strap mounting point was behind the seat, is this the correct place? – I just assumed it would be directly under the seat base?

5 two over shoulders. Two by side. One up your crotch area

6 two over shoulders. Two side Nd two crotch

Difference is the T and V type crutch straps. Both types still have 2 anchoring points to vehicle body. Example http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/harness-crutch-straps

Crutch strap should not be rearward of the crutch, more or less directly below it.

Blue book says straight down with 20 degrees leeway front to back.

I have 6 point with 2 mounting points in the floor for the crotch strap.

Thanks guys, sorry for delay in responding but have been away. Great link thanks namakubi. Have chosen a 6-point Willans in the end.

I've just had a look at the Willans fitting guide and it says that the crotch straps should be "to the rear of the driver" and has a picture with them mounted approximately below the shoulder line. It mentions 20 degrees but for the shoulder straps.

Thanks Mark, that's exactly what the Schroth guide says so I guess the Willans guide is wrong, or I’m reading it wrong. I need to have a good look at my original mounting points as well so I’ll go through all of them and make sure they’re all correct using the guide. It’s a lot easier now as I’ve removed the seat-sliders and they’re permanently fixed. Any recommendations for where I can buy the ‘stiffening’ plates with the captive nuts to put on the underside of the chassis to screw the harness eye-bolts into?

Have gone for a TRS 6-point 3" shoulder / 3" lap harness in the end from Demon Tweeks, the guy there recommended using the Schroth guide for recommended mounting points too.
