EEEEK!!! My cambelts just snapped

Hi
I've never posted on here but lurked the forums for a bit of advice in the past. My girlfriend has a 2001 1.6 16v RSI and the cambelt has just snapped.
Would it of completely screwed the engine and require a complete rebuild??
If it is screwed does any one know where I can get a secondhand engine???

Thanks
Joe

Might have bent/destroyed a couple of valves, would need to bechecked over by a mechanic.

2nd hand 1.6 engine I would try Renault Specialist breakers in Accrington.

  ITB'd MK1
Our Laguna loan car was bought with a snapped belt. 10 bent valves replaced with new and a seized water pump replaced (suspected as the route cause of the belt breakage) and it's all good. I'd want to fit a new cambelt to any secondhand engine you dont know the source of just to be safe, so factor that into the cost if you go that way. I'd just fix the engine you have personally :)
