Engine bay 60amp maxi fuse problem

Ok so been working on the car today changing the steering column and managed to catch the positive to the indicator stalk against the dash frame ( some cowboy had badly spliced into the posture for a sound system), since that, the car won't start, no stereo, horn, central locking etc. Tracked down the fuse that had blown and it was one of the 60amp maxi fuses in the engine bay, replaced it and it blew again, checked all the wiring behind dash and can't find anything else, tried another fuse and it blew again. Any suggestions?

Can only be shorting out somewhere, likley in the area that you have been working, if theres one bad splice theres probably more...

Consider the possibility that that you have trapped a positive wire in the yoke when you changed the column.

fuses are there to protect stuff so if the fuse blows a more important component was saved...

So some numpty (me) managed to put a dash screw into a positive wire! Now all sorted and up and running again
