ESP + Service Light

  Clio 182 FF
Today when driving I had the ESP + Service lights come on. I had it happen on both the outbound & return journey, and both times I was not on the brakes (going up-hill outbound, and on the motorway on the way home - wasn't using Cruise Control though).

So when I got home I plugged in RSTuner:

So that's DF0135 Brake Information Fault, and DTC50CD Unrecognized Trouble Code.

Any ideas anyone? Both are quite non-descriptive really!

Note that I have previously had the ABS + ESP + Service Lights come on. Thread here. This was error DTC50CE Brake Light Circuit, and was being caused by the brake pedal sensor (light braking didn't bring the brake lamps on). I've since adjusted the brake pedal sensor so now all I have to do is breathe on the pedal to bring the brake lamps on.
I'm putting this as a separate thread as this time the error lights are different (only ESP + Service Lights, not the ABS as-well this time) and the RSTuner error codes are different (no sign of DTC50CE Brake Light Circuit this time).

Just to give closure:

ABS + ESP + Service Lights was caused by error codes DTC50CE + DF0135. This was that the brake light switch was not sensitive enough and needed adjusting. "The brakes have been applied but the brake lights aren't on".

ESP + Service Lights was caused by error codes DTC50CD + DF0135. This was that the brake light switch was too sensitive and needed adjusting. "The brakes lights are on but the brakes haven't been applied".

If you keep adjusting the switch as per the guide you'll find the happy medium in-between the two errors. I've now not had the error for months!

Thank you for the update westyfield2, I had the exact same problem, new switch and still getting a fault, turned out the pedal was too sensitive like above, would never have guessed that without this thread!
