exhaust question

Should a new standard back box be louder than its predecessor?
Mine snapped last week and fitted the new one today and its seems louder and more grunty than the last one?
is it just cause the silencer is clean inside?

Its a sleeved fitment and seems to be venting ever so slightly through the cuts on the sleeve would this make much of a difference?

And yes before you ask i couldnt stretch at this point in time to a stainless system.

Where you get the exhaust from?

if any air is escaping from anywhere but the tailpipe it will be louder.

my old exhaust was blowing from a pinhole in the weld, behind the backbox

sounded like a tractor

put ur hand over the exit of the back box if you feel it blowing (blowing is feeling an intermittent pulse) if it is it mean there is a hole in ur exhaust system some where.

Its a renault original part and they knocked 30% off it!!!! Shock horror!

Would you recommend using any type of sealant on the sleeve such as an exhaust paste?

They say it's a rneault orginal, but i 'm pretty sure some kwik fit places bodge on 1.2 ones?

they had to order it in allegedly??
hope they havent,dont think so like cause it still seems to pick up like it used to and doesnt feel restricted in any way.

see if it is blowing, if it is take it back and tell them its blowing. where it snapped it may of damaged something they haven't replace. but if u take it back naive and all they will tell u where/if it is leaking.

Fitted it myself, checked the centre section joints on both ends and all seemed well. maybe i jus havent got it on right, crawlin about on the floor aint the best solution.
Maybe jus stick it in the garage get them to sort it like.

take it to s**t fit and ask them to tell u whats wrong, just play dumb and it wont cost u a penny!

bit of exhaust paste round the clamp usualy helps mate
