Exhaust wrap minus the manifold

  ITB BG 182
I dont understand the whole arguement and personally think its a waste of time on everyday cars.

Anyhow, young boy at work with a 172 cup, is insisting that exhaust wrap is the mutts nutts.
I asked if hes done the manifold to which he said no, cant reach it properly.

So, am i right in saying, that because he has only wraped from the decat to the back box's, that its a waste of time and money?

Or would he actually gain anything?

For the big rollers maybe, boy whos just scraping by on current wages can not afford the £300 or £400 for having an exhaust ceramic coated.

But as i thourght, waste of time.

£300-£400? try £150 if you have a mate who's dad's brother's wife's sister's boyfriend's dad's ilegitimate sheep dog can do it for you ;)

Fred do you, or did you do copious amounts of mind altering drugs at some point?

Heatwrap waste of yime unless you have heat issues under the bonnet, or melting the floor..

I wrapped the 182 manifold I fitted to my 172, only because it was out and easy. It stinks for the first so many thousand miles before it burns all the coating off it. does keep the heat down in the engine bay though. dunno if it makes any difference with regards to performance.

I wrapped my manifold when it was off. I got decent wrap at a ridiculous price because of my mate Woking for Nimbus Motorsport.

It does reduce underbonnet temps which is good because my new brake hoses are near it and I bust my started motor heat shield.

To the OP, your mate has waisted his money and time not doing his mani

Just been looking around an found a few places that do ceramic coatings for about £125 to £175 if i take the part to them.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
I'm wrapping mine as I've removed the messy sound/heat proofing from the bulkhead. Purely as a protection for the brake lines and reservoir in this case though

I wouldn't do it for any kind of performance gain, and anything after the cat/downpipe would be a total waste of time

Strangley i've never touched anything ever, 100% straight me, although working on renaults all day does push my limits LOL

I enjoy not taking life seriously, way too boring!

If my manifold was off I would wrap it..
Just becuase of the fact my manifold melted the brake servo vacuum pipe so I had no brakes :-/
