F.E.A.R. (pc game)

Anyone played this?

Got it for Christmas and have played it a bit.

Visually, it looks great, very atmospheric. Very creepy though, I hate getting frights and I'm crapping it just walking along the dark corridors listening to that awful little girl laughing and making appearances. I can only assume it gets far worse and my hearts going to stop beating.

anyone remember as far back as the VERY FIRST resident evil, must have been about 10 when i first played it, i couldnt play it by myself, haha, it was so damn scary!!

Played F.E.A.R. earlier this year and completed it. Bloody brilliant game, especially if your hardware allows you to make the best of it. Totally loved all of it, and despite it being almost entirely set indoors, I'd say its one of the best shooters ever made. The combat system is amazing and betters anything I've played before.

Not the awe inspiring story telling spectacle of HL2, or the lovely vistas of FarCry, but it excels where a shooter should - in how the combat works. Brilliant in almost every regard. I cant wait for the sequel.

Great game. I've got the T shirt and pen to go with it. lol

I've been playing Condemned on 360, also developed my Monolith. That's very different but the atmosphere is amazing.

Not based on the HL2 engine at all.

Based on the lithhtech or litchtech engine cant quite remember the exact name now. The source engine looks totally different.

hence why fear can bring my system to its knees at high detail levels but HL2 at 1600x1200 6x aa and 16x af runs perfectly. 75fps (refresh is 75hz at 1600x1200) and vsync is on.

I love the Source engine, but it seems seriously lacking in dynamic lighting/shadows. I hope HL3 adds some proper lighting effects to the mix. We all know that shadows kill framerates though, which is probably why HL2 plays so well on 9800Pro hardware (i.e. it doesnt really have any)

  nothing, blown up!
lol i just got rinsed. it does have some bits based on the source engine but not the whole thing( says protecting his face from another slap)

yeah, its a pretty good game! few frights in it as well, and dodgy sound effects, very atmospheric. game is too short though i thought

Just finished it.

Not as scary as I thought but like all good horrors it's being afraid of the unknown. Very creepy within the reactor building in the dark with the flashing red emergency lights.

Some creepy set pieces too. One like in the film The Grudge where Alma emerges upwards on the CCTV screen. Another bit where you leave the woman in the lift only to see Alma behind her as the doors shut.

Bit too easy though to be honest, the slow motion thing makes it over easy especially with the ability to keep quick-saving. Was hoping it'd last over the Christmas holidays.
