Fabia splitter fitting guide?

  Clio 182
Has anyone done a guide on fitting the splitter? I'm probably the least mechanically handed person on the forum but have an idea of what to do would just like a guide if possible?

Pictures, tools/materials required pleaseee

By the sounds of it, it's pretty straight foward. Use self tappers, start in the middle of the bumper and work your way outwards. I havn't done it, but I'm sure somebody will be along soon who has taken photos whilst doing it

i dont know if there is a guide, but pretty much like he said ^ start in the middle, and work your way out to each end, then once its on, just slice of the ends for a nice clean finish ;)

i used 19 self tappers when i did it...

some people used less

The 16 page thread wasn't enough of a guide?

Buy splitter
Buy screws
Align splitter
Screw
Trim ends
Job done.

How did you do yours mate? did you jack the front end up or not? Mine's coming tomorrow and don't have a jack.. Not sure if it would be possible to do without one

I think its much easier to do with your bonnet off. I took mine off and turned the bumper upside down to see what I was doing properly, then screwed on the splitter using self tapper screws, starting at the middle and working out.

Seems alot of hard work..

Removing bonnet to fit a splitter ;) ?

bonnet off? wtf, its easier than wiping your arse, seriously.

this tbh

i screwed all my self tappers in to the splitter 1/2way then screwed the middle one to the bumper first ( just align middle of bumper with middle of splitter, easy) then just screw the rest making sure its looking straight then use a knife to cut the ends flush, done......seriously its easier than it sounds just do it!!

things you need:

-about 15 self tappers (shorter the better) (also good to have a large head)
-stubby screw driver
-knife/blade
-15 minutes of your life

  Maybe a 172 Cup..

It fits a non sport no problem. And i found the easiset way to fit was to tape the spliter in place and then start at one end and use self tapping screws, aligning the spliter with the bumper for each screw. Simples :)

Hahaha James you hero. Hes pretty useful with spanners i will give him that when we were working on our cars he did far more than me and iam supposed to be an engineer

If it was me i would wack the bumper off and fit it on the kitchen table get the cleanest possiable fit and the work on smoothing the ends and bumper car

Are there any performance benefits of fitting a splitter or is it just aesthetic?

Maybe a slight aero dynamic benifit???

But appart from that non whats so ever from plastic spilters like this proberly makes u very very slightly slower due to the extra weight if you want to be mega gay about it

lol at some of the comments...

Aero dynamic - not with one this small.

K-tec - doubt it.

Its easy as piss with the bumper off, But just jack it up slightly... Align, Pilot hole then screw.

I find it's easiest if you take the roof off before you do it, call the fire service if you don't have the jaws of life handy...

if you ran a massive splitter and rubber skirts on the sills, car dropped low on coilovers and a rear deffuiser you may see a little downforce.

  182 Trophy
I took the engine out to do mine, that made it easier toget the bumper off, i then stood in the engine bay and superglued the spiltter to the slam panel.

  Phase 1 Clio 172
i ordered a new skoda fabia splietter from skoda dealers other day
any ways got it home unpacked it then set to work

i went round drilling the holes to mount the splitter at even intervals

then started to mount the splitter and attached it using self tappingtorque screws as i had a load spare from stripping the black clio

finnaly the splitter was attached might not be to most peoples liking as its very plain but i like it as its subtile and gives the car a lower stance and carnt really grumble at the price i payed ;)

heres before

^why go though all that effort???

i cut the shell off leaving the slampanel and bumper connected. then made a jig to hold the bumper and splitter in place, i made the jig out of carbon fibre and used laser alignment to get splitter tracking straight. i then tig welded a stainless bracket together to hold splitter to the bumper while i drilled holes, and then screwed the self tappers in. i then only had to weld the car back together. and re-fit the silver visions.

Personally i wouldn't do it that way, sorry i don't want to cause offence, just seems a little long winded.

Seemed a bit of quick bodge-job that.

I did it properly and just bought a fabia.
