Few pics after correction and 3 coats of BOS

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
spent a good 15 hours on the paint of the golf, I started off using the PC with 3.02 on a cut pad, this corrected about 20% of the swirls after two passes, so dropped to power gloss, again not having much luck..

I came to the conclusion that the pc just does not have the power or the ability to successfully cut hard VAG paints, my car isn’t heavily swirled, just lots of light washing marks but it would just not budge!

So I took advantage of Matts i4detailing offer for the Kestrel Rotary with free LC backing plate, two days later I attack the car again..WOW what a difference!

Process
I managed to remove all the swirls in two passes of 3.02 on a menz polishing pad,
I tided the marring and light swirls with some PO106FF on a polishing pad worked this all the way to a finish
gave it a wipe down with IPA 50:50 with distilled water to remove the oils from the menz.
Then added two coats of EGP for some extra shine
I washed all the dusting with a rinse from the hose, sprayed last touch on the body before drying using my CYC huge drying towel
then gave the car 3 costs of Swizzvax BEST OF SHOW - this really changed the look of the car, the paint has depth, gloss and brings out the metallic super well!

Cleaned the engine with APC
Wiped the interior down ready for the wet vac tomorrow!

The wheels and front bumper wern't touched as the front bumper is being re-sprayed and the wheels are getting refurbed too!

No during pics sorry, only afters, pretty impressed with the reflection and shine, its a funny colour to get that kind of depth from...so im more than happy!

That looks ace, you can see the difference from the front bumper which you haven't done. Looks so much better.

You are right though. The porter cable has limitations. However the job done looks superbly! Well done.

Nice work mate, how did you find using the rotary for the first time?

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
Nice work! Was that your first go with a rotary?

Matt

Yes first time, It was much harder than I thought it would be tbh, the pannels were getting too hot at first as I dont think I was moving it fast enough..soon fixed that with a spritz of QD and slightly quicker movement. The hardest part is working contours on the vertical panel when on speed 4 it really wants to run away! I used slightly less pressure on the other side which helps I also find the more you fight it the harder it gets lol.

The PC is 100% user friendly IMO, you cant go too wrong with one! The rotary was hard to use for a first timer..by the end of the car though I was 90% there with it!

Well worth the money, its a heavy machine too..but it saved me going to go that gym that night!

Flol i'll hunt you down Jamie!

Gorgeous colour Ben. Looks great.

My boss had one the same colour brand new but the seats hurt his back took it to the dealers after 4 days.

You say "his". Do you mean "her"? Because no man would get rid of such a good car because his "back hurts"!

Definitely a rich 'he'! He's a bit older.

It might reek of boaby but he's rich and still drives a 911 turbo.

He's nearly 60 Justin! He specced an R8 to 100k with options and said it was too expensive.
