Fuse gone again!!!!!!

The car cuts out and wont restart, it goes to turn over and fires but wont start up. When you swap the fuse it starts right away.

When you come to restart it the check engine light is on and the gear change up light flashes really fast for about 5 secs then stops.

had a similar thing happen in my clio.

the alarm went off so i went out turned it off. then sat inside and all the lights on the dash were flashing! n the alrm then wud not work and the car wudnt start!

replaced a use and it was fine, no idea why the fuse blew tho

Handbook only gives you the fuse box diagram for the one in the dash, not under the bonnet!

The fuse is one running the relay for the starting of the engine.

Migh be a faults relay have a look round for any wiring which may be touching. Ill have a look what coloured wires may be the problem ones and post again later if its any use.

Cheers Edde, BenR is going to look at his wiring diagram but your help is also much appreciated, really really cant be arsed taking off de-cat/chip if its got to go back into Renault! Especially as I bet its just something simple thats causing it (i hope) When I have a better idea of what the fuse does etc Ill get a mechanic pal to check everything over with me.

Cheers.

Update :

Car was in at Renault and they couldnt find anything wrong with my car, they said they flushed the ECU of faults and checked some things then gave me the car back. This had already been done by a local garage so I knew this wouldnt fix the problem even tho I took the car back and gave them the benefit of the doubt as surely they wouldnt give me car back that would cut out again :)o) I took the car for a spin and it never happened (but it doesnt always happen, its an intermitent fault) When I got back from the run I checked over the engine and within 30 seconds of looking I found the below wires had rubbed against each other causing the core of each wire to be exposed and they were touching each other

I have wrapped them up and cable tied them away from each other. Can anyone tell me if these wires touching would cause this fuse to blow:

Does anyone know what that white thing the pink wires goes into, you cant see it in the pic but there is a green thing (very technical i know) attached the white plastic thing.:D

Wires touching can very often be the reasing for shorting.

Shame Renault didnt spot it.

Id tape up all potentail wiring like that There always room for them to touch and short otherwise.

Those fuses in the box are for thengine relays I think so they all important.

i had a similar problem with my windscreen wipers, the wiring loom was wrapped round the wiper linkage and had worn threw and this is on a 53 plate 172, all works fine now after i taped the wires up and re positioned them..;)

LOL! My post is bellow this one and ive got a similar prob - am sorting it tonight. My radiator fan keeps blowing the fuse and i sure as hell dont want that happening in the summer!

one wire (the pink one) is for the oil pressure switch. unsure on the other wire though as mine only has one wire down there. the only other wires close to that area are the pas pressurestat or the alternator but both would have to have become disconnected to get over there. all these wires have feeds down them though so any short circuits between them could blow a fuse.

The fuse circled above has blown again in my brothers Cup, once replaced it works fine.

Is there anyone out there that knows what the fuse is used for? We need to have a rough idea of what is causing it to blow.

Cheers
that fuse is most likely for the injection locking relay. it is one of the small black relays you can see in the bottem right hand side of your pic. will have to check on the diagram at work to be more exact than that.
