Getting a cable into the cabin from the Engine bay?

J

JEFF4507

I have been fitting my Lidatek LE30 and have the last part to do, get the cable from the front transponder into the car's interior so that I can fit it all together.

Question is, how do I get a cable in there ??

Is there a rubber grommet in the passenger like on the 172? If so use that.

There is a guide in the articles sections but you need to be a member to get to it.

Lol just realise that I asked if there was a "rubber grommet in the passenger" Ouch!! Obviously I meant the passenger foot well. :)

Sorry, im not much help then. I'm sure someone on here will be able to advise though.

@Sport182 = Yes there is Spor182, quite far up though !!

After looking very strange in my car for 5 minutes, I have found the grommet for the bonnet release cable.

How do I get it out ? Push it from the passenger side ?? Will it be ok with another cable of equal size being routed through ?

You have to make a hole in it. I used a screw driver. Depends how thick the wire is. I used this method when I install the power cable for my amp that was 4 Gauge.

^^ thats 8 guage! 4 guage is well bigger and much harder to get through i even thought about drilling my own hole it was such a b**ch!

Yeah have heard that anything bigger needs a bigger hole drilled though.
The pics is 8 but I also got 4 though the same place.

I've managed 4awg and don't think anything bigger will go through, took me about half and hour to get it through and it was a right b*tch.
Though read on talk audio that someone managed to get 0awg with some silicon grease and lots of brute force .

My cable is a bit bigger than the ones in the pictures I think. But the problem is there's a plug on the end, which must be about 6mm wide.

So should I prise a hole in the grommet and push it through ??

Yep only way to do it. Its not an easy job.

May help to remove the fluid bottle, also push your hand down the back of the sound proofing (without ripping it)

the bottle to the right of that simply clips out remove it for access too If you crawl into your footwell with a torch you will see it. Get a friend to help to poke it through its easier if 2 people are doing it.

Otherwise go to maplins and buy a rubber grommit to size then get drilling!!
