Got a Squeak / Chirp from Aux Belt Area

Hello
I wonder if you can help me out please? I have a 172 Cup and it has a squeak / chirp noise coming from the aux belt area.
I've done a few searches here but am after some extra advice please...
I noticed from the service history that it has never had a new aux belt (had a cam belt & dephaser in 2010) so I took it to a local garage and they put a new belt on, but the noise still exists. The car runs a lot better now but the noise is still not right.
I took the car back and they removed the belt again and said the noise is coming from pulley on the water pump. However now they have put the belt back on the belt is chirping even more and making a noise when warm, even on load. It is not noisy and I can't hear it in the cabin for example. When its not squeaking / chirping it does sound a bit rattly.
So my questions are, is it likely the water pump pulley would make a chirping / squeek noise?
Is it bad they removed the belt and put it back on again? does it sound like it needs to be tightened up more? I just saw the mechanic tighten it with a socket.
I read on here the pulleys do wear out...Shall I start with just changing the pulleys that run the aux belt then move on the water pump?
I know you can't say definitively, but is the car ok to drive with a noisy belt?!
Thank you...

Partial reading fail.

i missed you had a cup and saw the bit where you said you were thinking of changing the pulleys.

just tighten the belt up. It's not a self tensioning belt on the non AC cups.

Needs to be tightend with the Renault/electronic tool to get the correct tension.

so did the noise go when the aux belt was taken off?

ah :( they just used a socket to tighten it

they say the noise still exists from the pulley on the water pump with the belt off...

My water pump made a highish pitch noise when it was failing. Not sure I could call it a chirp though, but it could be the same?

thanks for your reply, its going off to a renault specialist to have all the belts done and the pump :( maybe using a sledge hammer to crack an egg, but hey ho. :dapprove:
