H&R setup; scrubbing from front bumperbracket-HELP!

  RS RIP
I've asked before in someone's thread but no answer so here goes again..Chris172cup has been so kind and sent me a message on how he solved this problem, this involved cutting away the archliner where the bumper-bracket is.

However the bumperbracket itself is the dangerous one. I can see where the archliner overlaps this part it is doing all the scrubbing; it's worn here. It's also the ONLY part that scrubs. Mind you this only happens when thrashing ...
When the wheel/suspension is compressed down enough the bracket will maybe rip off a tyre on a hard curve at high speed; really not the place to have a tyre blow !! When car is just sitting/parked the bracket is just 3-4 cm away from the tyre and this ca'nt be right, it's just dangerous :S
The ride height is the recommended height from H&R (how they came out of box) , no lower than any pics i've seen on here.

Please share and let me know what to do about the bracket ? Maybe bend the whole thing after heating ?:quiet:

Fred ? i've heard/read something about your archliner mod, does this involve this ?

.........too low. It can be cut away with an angle grinder, but if you think thats harsh, simply raise it ;) By the way, they are TUV approved only with a 30mm lowering, not how they came out the box!!!!.

It can't be too low when i compare it to others on here ? Especially when looking at Chris172cup , Day's , Peperami, etc..

when grinding away at it surely it will ruin the possibilty of ever changing/dismounting bumper etc. ?

It is too low in that its fowling the car.

That was mine. I majorly hacked away at the arch liner. I then bent the lip off the bumper bracket off each side. It still scrubbed in dips still (with new tyres fitted). If you think its dangerous raise it, its that simple really. I covered around 50k with it set up at that height. I had no issues other than mentioned above.

Cheers for those replies guys...these actually look even lower than mine, sexy low.. that's why i was wondering.

So just take a grinder to it eh !? I was maybe thinking of blowtorching it (heat up) and bending it upwards, this way you would still be able to dismount/mount bumper without prob in future

I basically (iirc) just bent the lip back with some mole grips. Didnt look pretty, but then it doesnt have to ;) Fred had took an angle grider to his, as have some other, and ground alot of the mount away. Mine was fine as i removed the bumper to reclip in the bottom grill. No issues with remounting it :)

never ever EVER cut the bracket back with a grinder

easy to do, bend it back on itself through 180degrees

What and where is this bumper bracket that everyone is talking about here ?

And bending back/grinding away :S

Feel/look into the front wheel-arch and you will find a bit- (near the side fender, and let's say at 11 o'clock when facing your wheel)- that sticks out something like an inch. Under there is the bracket.

Just have a look above your front wheel dude feel for the bracket you will need to remove a small part of the arch liner, you will see the edge of the bracket is pointing down, get some grips and tease it up a bit at a time until it is flat.

I'm sure I'll figure it out when the time will come. I was just curious how others did it
