Handbrake

  Ph2 Meg 225
Just a quick question, my handbrake doesnt engage till the 6th click but feels as though it doesn't have an excellent grip? Does this mean new cables or tighten it???? :)

Can try adjusting but sounds like they've stretched.

You'll need to replace the pair and with genuine Renault ones.

Probably best replacing the cables. Don't buy non genuine ones because they don't fit. One of mine snapped a few months ago. Tried fitting non genuine cables and they were too short.

Phase one and two seem to be different lengths. Tried to use a ph1 handle for mine as the cable adjuster is inside the car, but the cables (ph2) were too short. Guessing the Ph1 are longer?

Completely different mechanism too so they are different lengths.

Some Ph1 have the Ph2 setup though!

£25-30 each if I remember rightly.

You need to get under car, ramps or pit is a massive help.

4 Torx bolts underneath to remove heat shield and then clip everything in.

Handbrake off when replacing ;)

Sorry I thought we were talking about a 172, unsure in how they go to the drums but procedure with heat shield will be the same.
